Super Class Bling Comp Rig This build is very cool. I had tons of fun building the scale stuff, as it really makes you pay attention to detail. I've learned to like the bling but now want to get back into competing so a new Super Class comp rig is in order. One great part about this build is that you can simply order the parts and start building a very capable crawler. Hardly anything has been fabricated by me. RCP supplied all the parts and I'm truly impressed with their selection. As for the parts themselves....I have not used any of the parts in this "kit" in the past so it's fun to use and install "new to me" parts and I started with the Hustler Stage 2 kit. So...on to the build. I just finished putting together the TT CVD's. They are awesome! I installed them into all aluminum Clod axles. For gears, I went with the aluminum Clod spool and plastic gears surrounding it to reduce noise. I'll get more done soon. http://img456.imageshack.us/img456/4001/dsc06490mb5.jpg |
here are the cvd's in the Integy axle tubes. They are already bling. http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/3376/dsc06501hf1.jpg |
The Integy knuckles mounted to the tubes. Their stuff is really nice but I did find that with the cvd's, the tolerances are too tight. It wedged the cvd in and it wouldn't turn. I had to removed the inner knuckle bearing to free everything up. Should be fine with the one bearing. Thanks Patrick. http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5940/dsc06506zh3.jpg |
RCP had everything in stock to make complete aluminum clod axles....so I got the alum. gear boxes too! http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6016/dsc06513px7.jpg |
bling don't get ya home........... oh wait a minute that is chrome... ah nevernmind. |
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ nice build so far Dirk. |
nothing wrong with functional bling, which may even negate its bling'iness. nice start DD, and you picked the right place to post for any help you may need "thumbsup" |
One reason I didn't go with metal housing is because I'm afraid of what the bottom of that is going to look like after some rock rash. I have a feeling that it will get rough and slide poorly over rocks than plastic would. No actual data to back it up with, but that was my feeling. |
Will I need welding goggles or will regular shades keep the glare at bay? |
looks like my new build, but im running RC4WD axles on my integy aluminum center. looking good. |
I found alot of Sluff in my Integy case when I got it, enough to rub on the gears. Have they fixed this? I got mine a few months ago. Nice build."thumbsup" |

What gears are you using? i think i remember you having trouble with some metal ones not sure if they were aluminum, lmk as i now will buy some better gears for 2 of my clods, i have been killing some gears lately on them since i went brushless:lol: Never mind, you beat me to it, aluminum locker, and stock clod gears? weak link maybe on the plastic geasr? Looking very nice BTW. |
