Default The JunkYard Dawg:Booty-Fab at Werk

Well I wasnt supposed to be werking on a new crawler but I decided to anyway. This is my daughter's Clod, The JunkYard Dawg.

When Digler and I had lunch a few weeks ago we were talking about crawlers (big surprise huh) and we found that we had almost identical designs in mind so you will notice that it looks similar to Slyther II.
With many other projects going on I did not have time to do much fabrication so I built this out of pieces I had laying around (hence the name) so the chassis is pretty ghetto right now but hopefully it will werk ok. I have only had time to drive it once so far and I was pretty happy with it so we'll see how it does in Utah this weekend.

The specs:
Clod Axles
JB Lockers
9T/10T front/rear pinions
Intefy 55T Matrix motors
ClodMod Racing motor mounts
Super Rooster ESC
Hitec HS5645MG front steering servo
Hitec HS5945MG rear steering servo
Junkyard chassis
High clearance, brass over aluminum lower links/ aluminum upper links: front
High clearance, steel over aluminum lower links/ aluminum upper links: rear
ThunderTech upper link mounts
Duratrax Gold 4" shocks
Imex K-Rocks (soft) on RPM StableMaxx Clawz
HeydCo Wheel adapters
17" wheelbase
5.5" belly clearance

Thanks for the look, lemme know whatcha think.

Thanks Bender, I really like this rig. I hope the tires werk out. If not I'll have to get Moabs but we'll see.
It'll be cool to see how all the new rigs compare.

Haha, well my daughter is 11 and just learning to rock crawl so we'll see how that goes. But she can jump a mean curb with her Stampede!

Thanks VMG.

They are not really much "softer" but they are much more grippy. Sticky if you will.
I had to cut the tread blocks, I felt there was not enough space between them and that made the pretty flexy. We will find out how they do very soon.

Thanks bigfoot, with the battery mounted just behind the front motor there will be nothing mounted above the chassis rails so hopefully it will climb well. I bend my links with a brake line tubing bender.

Thanks boner, I wasnt sure I would like the look when I started this but I think the low profile stadium truck body helps the overall look.

Aaaaaah Shiat!!!!
Looks like the battle of the builders is on!!!!

You know what would be super cool??

You guys have all seen Biker Build Off on Discovery Channel, right?

We should have a Crawler Build Off!!! Although.....it seems that is what we are doing right now!

Anyhoooo. A bunch of us could start from total scratch, with nothing but clod axles and go from there. Give ourselves 4 weeks to come up with the craziest shit imaginable!!

Of course, you can use the traditional stuff like, shocks, electronics, wheels, tires, etc.
You guys don't want any of this!!! Don't make me machine a chassis out of billet titanium impregnated kryptonite!!
