I think it gives the impression of being long because of the chopped down chassis...actually have a look at excav8tr's build to compare ...then look at mine than keep in mind that he said his wheel base is too short.

How long is too long and what difference does it make on performance?It may be too long its around 20 inch ...I am making all the adjustments at the moment ... but I was hoping it would be HUGE too ...?

You know that is a good conversation starter. "What does long do differently than short". Short, you dont have to worry about ground clearence, because of there isnt much room for anything to hit the skid, but when things are long...

You have a lower center of gravity? Is that the only advantage to going long?

This is my opionon on longer (note this is from wheeling Full size trucks)
with the long wheelbase your less likely to get stuck in the short deep holes because and the rear starts to enter the front is already leaving the hole. Long wheelbases like going up hill better because of what you stated they have that lower CG.
and at times they are easier to control on low grip surfaces like slimy mud
(not that comes much into play with Rock Crawling)

Oh and I got my rig set up at 17 inches
