Already got'em so gonna use'em! but will take your advice and keep my final somewhere bellow the max. This is also what made me think of the speed motors. 2.5:1 of 30,000 rpm is 12,000 so thats almost double of an 80 turn crawler motor. I think it would take some of the lurch out on low speed maneuvers yet still give good torque and make straight runs between gates not so long.

But have you taken into acount the reduced run times?? Any thing over 50 to 1 is gonna break stuff in a heart beat. Plus if by some miracle you are able to stall your motors without breaking your axles you will smoke the motor pretty quick. That is the advantage of running a higher turn motor, you can pretty much stall a 55t motor all day and it will only get warm. You stall a 17t and it will smoke very quickly. And you are going to stall or break it.

Well I got them cheap so if they start to break stuff then off they go! Sure would like to see 122:1 crawl though.

What kind of width is good to start with? Was going to try not to go so wide. Maybe try a simple 12mm to 17mm adapter for my Axial wheels and leave it at that. Sound good?

If you are planning on compeating I don't think that chassis is legal for supers.

It seems to me that our local gatherings have been a little lax in that area. If i could get some '08 rules I could check but I;m just out for fun and if a comp happens then okay.

The rules are here.

I seriously doubt if the body or tube chassis dimensions will change for next year. If you don't plan on competing at nationals and your club is cool with it, then you don't really need to worry about the size.

The Gopher looks interesting on there, I'm curious to see how it turns out.
