I completely agree with that. It's all the extra work and attention to details that help a good driver to win comps. Great write up also!

thanks man.

alright, back at it.

i stuck the axle tube and axle shaft up into the housing and slid the spool on to check for clearance inside. Spin the gear and if you hear the gear rubbing then you know you gotta grind it out a little. you usually can see where the teeth are rubbing on the JB weld from the scratches.

went ahead and cut the other case half (on the left) up against where the axle tube flange mates up, just like the very first cut on the other side. AND cut a small amout out of the case half (on the right) close to where the spool runs.

same tape method, laid the JB on the inside first, peeled tape off, then again to make the outside layer. Filed it all down smooth.

next step, your going to need to get THIS EDGE HERE:

flush with the rest of the case mating surface. it can easily be done with common sense LIKE THIS:

you gotta have both cases put together to do the last section, so to keep from welding the two sections together, lay some tape flush on the edge of this case:

then jam some tape up into the other housing (left), put the two cases together and use a screw driver to get the tape to stick to the housing on the right.

lay another batch of JB onto the mold you made for the left case

now you have to be gentle pulling the two cases apart. just work with the tape and dont rip the JB off (if its still not cured)

here it is welded outside and inside. I put the two cases together and noticed they dont match up quite right. I can see daylight through the split. The first one i did turned out right, but this one i can easily add some more JB on the inside of the housing, then file it down to make a better seal.

let us know how it holds up to the rocks. any mod to a 2.2 clod is worth the time and effrot in a class dominated by tlt , scorpions ,and wheely kings.
