| The 8x8
I have had a set of clod axles sitting waiting for a project and I found it. After going through my spares I realized that I had enough spares to build a set of clod axles. So I came to the decision to build a clod based 8x8. For now I'm using a torsion stick chassis but one I prove that the setup works I will build a real chassis and link all 4 axles. Heres a quick rundown of parts 8 Giant tracs on narrowed clod wheels 4 locked clod axles 4 45t lathes 4 tower pro 945's 2 super roosters br6000 2 4200 6 cell packs So far I got it together and wired temporarily. Its overall wb is 26 1/2and weighs 12lbs with 1 battery. I need to redo the esc'd power harness and rewire the motors. Once I get more wire I'll be up and running. From there I'll have to start making a body, it will be hmett based. Heck it even gets a little flex. Last edited by TimR; 01-10-2008 at 02:38 AM. Reason: spelling |

Very interesting and nice to see something different.... What body do you plan on running? That Boulder Hauler from Pro-Line might be cool. But with that crazy long wheelbase I'm not sure...

For the body I have 2 ideas: The 1st one is to use 2 or 3 parma bus body's cut up and put back together to get a cab and covered cargo area. My other Idea is to build a styrene cab, and a flat bed out of brake line and styrene with a canvas top. I think the lexan body will be a little more durable than the hand made body, but the hand made body would look better. I'm still on the fence about which way to go. |

Are the tires going to clear each other when they are turned? Looks like the corners of the tires will interfere with each other before they get even close to lock. | |

How are you going to power and control all the motors? Will they all run in sync or will you be able to run them independently? |

For the steering the front axles will steer together and the rears will steer together. I didn't see a point to have the 1st axle steering one direction and the 2nd axle the opposite direction. I've been leaning toward a body like that, but I may push the cab back on the chassis a little bit so it sits more like a unimog's cab. |

If you space the front axle a little farther apart you can pull one of these off. |
