Default Can anyone please post photos of the tranny?

Can anyone please post photos of the tranny?
Is it a good donor for other builds?
How good is it compared to the AX10 tranny?
Thanks!

Well you've got the photo but here is what I think.

Its quite compact. Not as small as the axial but not bad either.

There is a ton of gear teeth touching at all times because of the planitary gear set which should mean it will hold up well.

It seems geared pretty low.

The best thing in my opinion is that to bolt it in, you use 3mm nuts that are replacable instead of screwing into plastic and risking stripping the case.

Its also 100% enclosed.

Should work fine (pinned) with axial/traxxas outputs and driveshafts.

I don't think the traxxas yokes or driveshaft assembly would fit the on the tamiya transmission shafts. The tamiya is has rounded shaft while traxxas yokes have semi round holes (round on side, flat on top and bottom). Pls correct me if I'm wrong or if theres a traxxas yokes or driveshaft assembly with perfect rounded holes. thanks

A grinder will put flat spots on the output shafts.

Traxxas metal yokes are round,I wouldn't waste my time with the plastics ones that are not round.

Id get an axial trans because the tamiya trans is bigger than the axial, and probably more expensive.

Just my opinion.

You're probably right but I have stripped out more than 1 hole in an axial tranny because of the threads they use.

don't forget that I'm in Japan and Tamiya is at least 25% to 35% cheaper here hence the whole truck is quoted $240 here but I would rather get and will get the AX10 RTR better bang for the buck any time of day! even at the lower price...

but this tranny seems like my first option for future builds here in Japan since there haven't been any decent crawler trannies here ...so I hope its at least OK

Some of the parts are already in stock at Tamiya America. I don't have the specific list but have been told that some of the 5-digit part numbers are already in. This includes some of the hop-ups.
