Default Proper filling of shocks

Hey everyone,
I'm having a hell of a time getting the shocks filled correctly. The instructions simply say to fill the body, pull piston down and then place rubber seal on. The only problem is the pics show the piston in the "up" position. What am I doing wrong? How should the shock react when the cap is in place? Could someone please shed some light? Thanks in advance.

Hey I got your PM, I'll just answer here.

I filled mine like normal, filling it with oil almost to the top and then cycling the shock piston up and down to get the trapped air out from underneath the piston. Then I topped off the oil, almost to the top. Then keeping the piston near the top I put the rubber bladder in place. Oil spills out. I made sure the rubber bladder was fully seated, and not touching the piston. The shaft will be about a half inch away from fully compressed. Then, put the top on. The shaft still slowly extended itself a little bit, but I don't care.

And yes my shocks leak a little bit, but again, I don't care.

There's so much play in the cantilever set up that precision shock dampening isn't really going to come into play here.

Those guys are right on the money on building the shocks. Just make sure all four shocks have the same (or none) rebound. The amount of oil in the shock will determine how much rebound the shock has. They should all rebound the same amount and at the same speed when compressed and then released.
