The droop setup works great. I'm running 70wt oil front and rear w/ soft internal springs from a hardware store. I liked the coil springs but it's so much easier to wrench on this thing without all the extra stuff. I'm also running 6 oz of weight in the front tires and 3 oz in the rear.

I worked on the flatbed some more today. I flipped it over, added some wire mesh and a couple of roll bars for a future soft top. I still need to finish the body and order a few scale accessories. More updates to come.

Edit - Decided to show some better pics of the bed and I found a nice container at Office Depot for the ESC & RX.

It's just about done and I'm pleased with how it turned out. The HPI wheels and new paint really set it off. There's still a few accessories I need to get (hi-lift jack, shovel and a kayak if I can find one). The scale section of this forum really helped me out with ideas. I hope to get some action shots posted soon.

Nice and simple, paint the chassis black or anything but the original chrome and it will look even more scale IMO ....the stock chassis stands out from the rest of the scale look.

In fact you just made me want one finally....

Yeah, I've been debating about tearing it down and painting the links and frame black. I guess I have to do it now I need to dip the servo in some liquid tape too..

I've had zero problems with it, it gets pretty hot inside the box too. If I do upgrade the esc, it won't be until my waterproofing gets a good test.

Bringing back an old thread with some new pics. The droop setup worked well, but it was belly dragging everywhere. I put the bucket coils back on while keeping the internal springs on the shocks, seems to be a good compromise.

Great Job...I run flat irons on my CR, an awesome tire for that chassis.

I liked your ideas and how you made your bed from an everyday item laying around the garage...

That's my kind of fab work there....

It's been a while since I've had a chance to fool with my FJ, but the holidays have given me some time off work. I took it apart and painted the chassis and links black, modified the antenna and added a winch and snorkel. I also ditched the Junfac wheels because they were too wide and went with some old Axial wheels. The flat irons seem to hook up better with narrow wheels. I also had to paint the body again due to my poor attempt at detailing with a permanent marker.

More updates to come.
