Default CR01 Flatbed

I have been toying around with the idea of bobbing my FJ and sticking a flatbed on the back. I finally busted out the clippers and did some cutting for a quick mock up. The finished flatbed is going to look a lot different.

I'm not really shooting for a true scale look just something different. I'm not sure what the bed material will be yet...(steel, aluminum, wood, thick lexan). I need suggestions since I've never done this before. Let me know what you guys think.

I like it , I think its worth investing a little time in the flat bed idea.Maybe make 1 from styrene .
And the best way to join the cab back together is shoe goo with styrene backing it then repaint from the outside!!
Big thumbs up!!!

Thx guys, I think I'm gonna try an aluminum bed with wood sides. It will be a while before I get a chance to work on it, but I'll post some progress pics when I can.

More pics and info here and here.

What method will you use to glue the lexan together?

don't you start mixing up Landys with Land Cruisers Landys are short for Land Rovers (most often LR Defenders) - which are toys compared to Land Cruiser.

RC4WD great Landys wheels are replicas of old Land Rover wheels.

Any updates on the flatbed FJ40?

I'll get some updated pics up tonight. Since I don't have much time (or patience) to work on my rig I ditched the eloborate flatbed w/ wood sides. I did find something in my garage that worked out pretty good IMO.

I used a steel, top cover from an old CB radio. I think it turned out pretty good for a cheap and dirty flat bed.

I still need to sand the bob joint and paint the body.

i like that better than the original, maybe try a smokestack or a snorkle to go over the antenna
