Default Need Dig for Comp

I wanted to test the CR01 chassis under pressure, so entered and completed my first ever crawler competition at Jake's Performance Hobbies in Rohnert Park. Un-expectantly I was the only 2.2 Tamiya CR-01 to the competition. Most of the competitors were Axial owners, but all of them were very cool and supportive throughout the comp.

Tamiya's first crawler design did not disappoint. It actually did surprisingly well against the other rigs. It held its own on all three courses. The CR01 even handled a steep 45 degree SIDE angle "table top" gate without any problems, which most of the other competitors did not make. Granted, I modified the suspension and did away with the cantilever set-up and went with the straight 4" Losi crawler shock/spring set-up (Thanks to other threads ). Plus I upgraded the tires and added a bunch of weights to the aluminum rims. Note, the 6 cell battery is still in the stock location, so top heavy issue was a concern compared to the rest of the competitors.

But, this first comp definitely showed me the trucks strengths and short falls. Depending on the type of course, the trucks turning radius was an issue. All of the rigs with the dig system did farely well and had a less chance of pointing out of the course. So, my first modifaction before the next comp will be to install a Dig system that will fit in the CR01 chassis. Several of the guys at the comp directed me the thread below:

DIG Option for CR01:

It let you all know how is works out after I build it.

BTW - Is there an easy way to post pictures from my pic folder/ "my documents"?

Anyways did anybody else out there install a dig in a CR01 yet? Can you post photos?

My Specs:
CR01 chassis
Novak Brushless "Goat"
Spektrum Dx3r
Losi Rock Crawler Tires
4" Losi Crawler Shocks
HR 2.2 Aluminum Rims
Traaxxs Punisher Shafts
No Lipo Yet
No Dig Unit Yet

If you become a paying subscriber, you can upload pictures to our website directly from your computer.

Otherwise, there's many outside hosting sites such as Imageshack.us or Photobucket.

Check out this thread: Posting Pics For Dummies

Don't think I've ever seen a dig installed on a CR-01.

Hey man wsup? I did the september comp at jakes with my cr-01. It didnt do to well against all those guys axial comp rigs, but now i got my wheelbase stretched to 12.5 inches using traxxass Revo links, and now I could probably walk on those comp rigs. I still have the cantis and im flexin almost 90 degrees.

crawlinmancr01-

Cool, you must of been on Sport 2.2 class. I competed on the 2.2 class. Too bad that I didn't get the chance to check out your rig there. I'll look of you on the next comp on the 11th at Jake's. BTW - I'm still debating whether to go with FWS or the Dig, I just install FWS and is bad ass, but I really want to tryout on the regular 2.2 class. I try to build the dig before the 11th, if not I joint you in the Sport 2.2 class.

BTW - I just built my brothers ARTR Axial this weekend and is pretty cool truck. Its definitely a "Comp Rig". HMmmmm? I Like it alot. But, it doesn't have the scale look I want.
