Got some time off, took out the Nikon instead of the camera phone.

Great pics! The more I see those wheels, the more I like them. Getting hard to find though.

On a side note, the track has been 100% improved up at Ott's, with crawler course and the racetrack is back and far better than it was. Can take the CR and the DF03 up and air them both out.

Thanks!

I should go there today. It will probably be just me since it's a weekday lol. I'm off all week so just been doing whatever I feel like doing.

who's behind the wheel? Could it be?

Yes it is. The legend. Wild Willy

Little tougher to see behind the rock etched windows of the yellow body

And privacy glass in the Bronco

Looking at this thread again from start to finish I've realised that I first began to read it back in 2009 before I built my CR-01. You've had a lot more use from yours in the meantime than I have from mine. It's good to see the upgrades that you have made and what has worked for you. Keep posting as it is inspiring my revamp!

Really should put mine back together after revisiting this thread and seeing how good these can look. My truck don't look so good as it's in bits in the loft after I moved on to axial trucks.

Finally addressed the body shut lines with a fine tipped Sharpie. Got inspired after I did the drift body above. Low light phone pics, sorry for the grainy shots

Really makes a difference, especially on a Lexan body.

WOW!!!!

x2 what OSRC said. Even Tamiya lexan bodies have to give up a little detail versus hard plastic bodies. And that's the main advantage of hard bodies - those really sharp detail lines like door gaps, hood gaps, vents, etc. Highlighting with the sharpie REALLY sets those bodies off. AWESOME.

Please let us know how the lines hold up in real world use.

The only thing I've noticed on my drift body is even glass cleaner on a paper towel can wipe the lines off if you clean to vigorously

I also happened to notice my original body, the yellow one, has less pronounced features. Not sure if just have a bad body or they made improvements over time to when I purchased the second FJ body

Just thinking about this; does it depend on how new the mould is? I guess they have to renew them every so often?

Have you had any time out with your CR-01? Photos?

Thanks

Maybe its variations in different moulds at the factory?

I haven't photographed it lately but i believe i have a 3 day weekend coming up and I might squeeze some wheel time in.

Molds wear over time. Believe it or not, just the friction from filling the mold and from removing the finished products wears the molds. The more a mold is used the less pronounced the features will be. I'm willing to bet your body with less pronounced lines is newer than the other body.

It's actually older but probably an old cast of the first production run when the CR was released. They could have made hundreds of bodies before mine I bet

Ran into a skeleton someone dumped out on the trail yesterday. I'm sure it was something whole that all the animals and insects got to and picked it clean

still flexing after all these years

Still looking good. Inspiring me go get out with mine. Mid winter here and its been wet lately so the ground is pretty soggy.
