cr01, droop

i got my cr01 that i traded for my nitro bronco today. it came with two bodies the fj and a blazer.
i'm down with the blazer even though its in rough shape...
i will be adding more trail damage to it soon. (dents)

after changing out the 75 turn motor i found the tranny had a bind issue.
i searched on here and found that a few people had plastic flashing that wasnt allowing bearings and such to be seated proprerly.
that was my case today as i had to rebuild the tranny.

after that i took it out for a rip around the yard and noticed quite a bit of slop with the stock cantilever suspension. after toying around for a while i decided to run my aluminum bodied tmaxx shocks setup in droop.

now my only concern is i didnt have the small springs to put inside the shocks yet, as i wasnt sure if i was going to have it sprung, ( it looked like a swamp truck ) or keep it drooped.

does it make a big difference if the springs are not in the shocks ?

what have you done to clean up the cantilever pile ?

woke up this morning and took it for a short trail run.
i noticed that the shaft angle was a bit tough and i was getting a binding issue at the top of the suspension travel due to the 3 racing bent links in the front.
i tried every config there was with the bent links in front and decided it was better off that i make my own straight links for the front end.

also i found the reason for putting the small springs inside.
now i just need to find what size.

went to home depot, and found some spings that might work, took them home...
no good. too much tension.

then i looked in my pen holder and found 4 matching pens.
doh !

works great.

It looks great!
What size are your shocks??

STEEL_CITY_CRAWLER 12-01-2008 11:27 AM

looks good. glad to see people starting to rip off that junky looking cant. system. since i like to run drop on my comp rigs, i would suggest losing the bent links if you want to run droop. i have always had better luck with straight bottom links on a droop set-up....

i have axed the bottom bent links in the front, i just haven't gotten around to doing the back.
thanks for the compliment,
it's a fun truck to drive now.
before i couldnt deal with the all the slop it had, and to me it had too much articulation for a trail beater if that sounds right "thumbsup"
actually i did add that trail damage too...
look here..
