| Cr-01 heavly modified!
Hi everybody, I wanted to share pics of my CR-01 that is and was my fav truck.I started out stock with alot of 3Racing hop ups(the way I got it),Then I started to do some crawling around with it and it did very well concider I had no weight in the wheels. Well the club or Fourm I belong to keeps saying it a scaler not a crawler it will never be a crawler,Well I proved them wrong very wrong. This truck went from a multi scaler/crawler to a full blown out crawler now and they all had their douts well I proved to them and showed them is not a scaler. Enjoy the Pics that is my HEAVLY MODIFIED CR-01 it is a machine that will crawl over anything in its way. Thanks for looking Greg F350 rew Cab Dually Highlift Toyoto Highlift Hilux CR-01 Crawler Scalers rule and Crawlers drool! |

I had bought the RCTrax dig unit about a 2 months ago, but have yet to install it. I was going to try and install into the stock CR01 chassis (whenever I have time again). I can't tell from your pix...how's the angle of the shaft from the end of the dig unit to the axle? Have you had any binding issues with it? How does it perform? I see that you are running it in droop. How do you like it? I like my CR01 in droop especially since it negates the effects of torque twist, but i am still getting used to the belly draggin'. What's your clearance and wheel base? Personally, i'm not much into the anodized blue, but your CR01 is looking good. |

Hi Greg, Your build looks sweet. I was tempted by the RCTRAX kit, but in the end it was cheaper to build my own chassis. Can you confirm the modes on the RCTRAX dig? Is it 4WD and then locked, or does it have the option to free wheel as well? Cheers, Mike. |

Hi, To answer your question about the RCTRAX dig,it has 4wheel drive, free wheel, and then locked I use the DX3r to control it it works very well it turns on its own axis. Thanks for looking Greg Scalers rule Crawlers drool! |

Thanks for that. I actually sent an email to RCTRAX a few months back, but their english wasn't too flash. Their response implied only two modes, 4WD & Locked. So, how does the DIG work? Is it smooth with engagement/disengagement etc. What about under loads? Thanks. Cheers, Mike. | |

Hey Mike, Yea it works very smoothly,What i sugjest is when you get it put some grease on the internals of the dig something that isn't sticky i used the Tamiya grease and it worked very well.Under load it works flawless in a flat area it works flawless you should have no problem with it. Also they suggest to use a micro servo,That bothered me so i used a mini servo and it works fine. Enjoy Greg Scalers rule Crawlers drool! |

Mate, I looked, tis a sweet ride. One Qu, the hi clearane linkages i got showed mounting long side out (opp to how you've got it, pre mod) and they bind on the balls something chronic. How well do they work reversed, as you've got them, any binding? |

To answer your questions. 1st The links do not bind up this way and their is no mods. 2nd The chassis is RCTRAX from over seas and the dig as well. And this is how my CR-01 sits today. Thanks for the questions Greg |

Sorry, I meant did they bind as installed the the CR01 chassis, not the RCTrax units. I have installed mine both ways and they pop off the balls at full extension. |

The original Tamiya upgrades bind too. You need to choose the attachment point to the chassis such that they don't. The front axle is the worst and you will have to reduce caster quite a bit by attaching the links to the chassis further back than the stock links so as to avoid binding.

I used a set of those high clearance links. I used them both ways and they seemed to work the same no matter whay side the long part was on. They never popped off the ball ends. They rubbed a bit on the spring perch but when they did they would spin to the side out of the way of the perch. that was the most annoying bit, I'd always be straightening the links so they sat correctly.

My problem was the grey rod ends that came with the bent links. They were weak and popped off all the time. The black ones that come with the kit are much better.
