1973 Ford Baja Bronco So I got my Bronco shell in and I decided to make it a Bill Stroppe Baja Bronco. The bodyset comes with the Baja Bronco sticker set in addition to the standard stickers. Time for some fun. Since it rained all day I worked on the Bronco shell. I did do a bit on Friday evening, but the majority was from 9AM to about 8PM Saturday. After cutting I painted the arches with a brush. The leading edge is a little uneven but there a sticker on the sheet to make it right. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3795.jpg Next tape off the body so I can make the black hood http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3797.jpg After 4-5 coats of Tamiya Black http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3803.jpg Then after thats dried, tape off the body so I can do the Brilliant Blue roof http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3804.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3805.jpg Now after 4-5 coats of the blue we've got this http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3807.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3806.jpg I was not painting on the dining room table if you're wondering. I was painting in a spare bedroom we have then coming back out to the good light of the dining room to tape. Next, I tape off the mid-section so I can apply Pactra Bright Red below the belt line. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3808.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3809.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3810.jpg I did a little brushed applied silver paint to the bumper. There is a silver sticker that will go here, but i figure if the sticker ever gets rubbed off or scraped there will still be silver underneath instead of red. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3812.jpg After nearly the entire can worth of coats I've got it to here http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3813.jpg That paint on the upper fender is on the outside it will come off after I peel the film off http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3814.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3815.jpg Now after thats dried I can remove the tape. I wiped down the remaining clear areas with acetone just in case there was any spatter that might show on the white. Truth be told, I did miss a bit [:@] So the white goes on, coat after coat on the entire under side until the can was nearly gone. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3816.jpg After the film is removed http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3818.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3819.jpg |
Now the unveiling. Had to go with the 351 Cleveland[:D] http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3846.jpg The shiny bits are amazing in the bodyset http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3847.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3848.jpg Baja Bronco emblems. I need to get a WW2 spare tire shroud and paint it white so I can apply the large BB sticker to that. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3849.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3850.jpg Sweet looking mirrors http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3851.jpg The BB sticker sheet is not precut like the standard sheet so these FORD letters were a pain to cut and line up http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3852.jpg Tamiya pride http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3855.jpg Cool little sponsor sticker, the sheet comes with enough sponsor stickers to cover this thing, but I like to keep it simple http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3856.jpg Top down shot http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3858.jpg |

Looks good. All the small detail work really makesit pop... |
Bent the thin steering rod about 2 weeks ago so I ordered up some Junfac replacements. It required some fiddling to get it all moving and not hitting other components but it works. The ballstud doesnt fit behind the arm so it went up front, but then the screw is a bit long and would hit the skid so it was cut back with a Dremel. The arm was also a bit long so I moved the ball up a hole and cut off the bottom of the arm and raised the whole servo up 1mm with some spacers under the brackets. http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3896.jpg close http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3897.jpg should fend off any damaging hits http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3901.jpg did I mention it was a tight fit? http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3908.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...o/DSC_3906.jpg |
