which do you think is a better position in the rear, stock set up?

both are using this lower mount point.

looking for more travel.

You probably get slightly more up travel with the shock on the lower hole of the cantilever arm. Just slightly. I haven't noticed too much difference in either spot. It was the short springs that made a lot of difference.

Plus make sure you tie those cantilever arms together or you'll lose some shock travel there when the arms move independently of each other.

In pic A you get a hair more down travel from Position X, but at the cost of up travel. In Pic B, you gain a hair more down & up travel in the "Checked" position than you would in "X", however you lose dampening ability since the leverage the shock applies is diminished (meaning the shock appears softer than before).
This is a give & take system, there is no perfect solution. I tweaked the hell out of my cantilevers until i found the setup i currently run; its all about trial & error to find what you like the most.
