Default waterproofing

Hey cydog here are the waterproofing photos you have been asking me to post.

used an extra small snap lock tupperware container, good thing about the snap lock brand is they come with a gasket seal so no need to use any extra waterproofing measures within it and with the easy to remove lid it also doubles as a on board tool box.

Stated off by drilling a larger hole in the front to feed the wires through (note if you are going to do this setup drill the hole lower then what I did the snap lock tabs are large and I had to modify mine a bit so it would clear the wires)

Drilled two holes in the bottom that i used to mount it to the body plate so that it would be good and secure and one last hole out the back to feed the antenna wire through.

next I used silicone to secure and seal the wires and mounting bolts make sure you rough up the plastic so the silicone will stick better..

last step was a quick bathtub test to make sure there were no leaks.

I have had my rig 100% submerged for 10 plus mins with zero leakage and the full set up ran me less then $10.

I kind of did the same thing with mine but I used a project box from Radio Shack. Here's some pix.

I mounted the on/off switch up at high as possible to keep it dry.

I have never had it totally submerged but have had it pretty wet and no problems!

I haven't seen or heard about the zip tie mod. Could you show me some pictures?

Just looking at the photos noticed that you have your antenna within the clear guide tube do you just bend it over under the body shell or do you have it coming through the top of your rig?

I just hide the antenna under the shell!
As for the zip tie idea, I checked it out and it looks like a good idea. I'll try it out !

Here's how I waterproofed the electronics of my cr01. I also made a functional snorkel system to pour some air into the boxed esc

Wow, that snorkel looks great! Don't submerge the truck past it though ;)

VERY cool! not sure if it's actually doing anything to cool it though... perhaps pop a small fan ontop of the ESC's heatsink to move air.

Hey guys don't forget to waterproof your servos as well. Even if the servo might work fine under the water on the long term it will build corrosion and eventualy fail.
There are many nice videos in youtube on how to do it.
