| stripped spider gears
Anyone else having a problem with stripped spider gears? Mine did it the first time last week so i swapped the gear for the one on the opposite side seems how the axle has a pin through it. well it did it again today and i think the axle might be stripped as well. Know of anyone that sells replacements?

I have had an axle pinion gear shred its teeth. But that is after doing alot of comp`s with my CR, running a front dig, sticky tyres and a novak goat took its toll.

Wow, I've never had any problems with mine either. What the hell were you doing with it to put into that kind of bind?

I lost a tooth on my rear ring gear too, just after I pulled the locking pin to try it out unlocked F&R. Just crawling over some pillows this winter, nothing harsh. I'm still running it, though. I think there's some casting issues, and the odd one gets a half-formed tooth. Nothing serious. |

will the Tamiya reinforced axle kit fix that? You'll have permament locked diffs but it would eliminate the gears in there.

Im running a 18.5 brushless goat setup with 2.2 mud slingers and punisher shafts. Its not the ring and pinion its the teeth inside spider gears that the axle slides into. Its already fully locked so that kit might work, got a part #?

It's part #54108. They are about $27 per axle on Tower Hobbies. You can probably get it on eBay fairly cheap.

I'm hoping they do because I want to get a pair. I've got about a quarter turn of play in my axles too.

Thanks, just ordered them, i think all the play is from the axle pins in the hexes.

You'd have to have some pretty blown out hexes for it to have that much movement. I have the clamp type aluminum hexes so they are locked tight to the axle. I can definitely feel that the play in mine is inside the diff housing.

Looks like he's got two of my pics on his auction. I sent them a message on eBay " I noticed you're using TWO of my personal pictures of my CR-01 for your auction. What gives? The yellow ones with the little white sticker on the hood are pictures I took of my own RC"

Yoiure talking about the splines in the side gears? Yeah, just get the reinforced axle diff kit, its a spool & new shafts, and they have 2 machined flats instead of splines to engage the diff. Put mine in back in january (link), havent had any problems with em. Some of the slop goes away, but not all of it. | |

Nice! I really want to get that locker set, but I dread taking the CR axles back apart, so many parts and screws :banghead:
