| ditching cantilevers.....
i am interested to hear peoples opinion, i am wanting to make my rig a little more scale looking, and the cantis are definitely not that scale, that being said i really think the design is great and i feel they work really well, minus the wretched leaky shocks. i was taking a look at the set up and if you remove the cantilevers as many have, you also loose the sway/torsion bars, i would like to keep em and try just shocks with the 3racing barrel springs. any suggestions? p.s. i have scanned a great deal of the threads and have not found too much on the subject. thanks for looking. |

You can just move the top mount of the shock up to the frame after you remove the cantis and move the bottom of the shock down to the lower canti pushrod mount. You'll still have the stock springs but they won't be coilover they will be separate. Or you can buy some short scale shocks from Proline or those G-Transition internally sprung shocks from Junfac and ditch the barrel springs altogether. You'll have to leave the one set of arms on the canti in order to keep the sway bars in there. So you'll have this little half chicken wing on there. |

I ditched my cantilevers. Using Tamiya short barrel springs with T-maxx big bores and 80wt. I'm also running 2.2 Chisels. Great flex!!!! |

Mine worked a lot better when I ditched the cantilevers and sway bars.

Dead, how's your torque twist with the set-up in the pics? I had my suspension set up just like that before, but that set-up is really prone to torque twist. Torque twist on mine was just too bad for my taste, so I ended up doing droop. The droop got rid of the torque twist effects. |

| Sure. I'll get one tonight after work. To put a little pic in your head...take a look at deadman's CR01 pics above, picture it without the springs. Having no springs allows the shocks to droop down. For me, the advantage is that it lowers the COG and gets rid of the torque twist effects. The problem is that it is more prone to belly dragging. It still flexes fine. Here's the pics. Not much to look at especially since I have this thing taken apart. When I have it put back together, I will replace these with better pics. The rears are not fully compressed because I have fuel tubing in the rear shocks. Here's a pic from January. This pic shows that droop suspension still flexes well. The winner of the WEROCK opener runs cantilevers in the rear, FYI. Just saw it today and it's a pretty neat setup.

Tiexeira1 - Are my eye's playing tricks on me... I can't seem to find any upper links on the front in your pic's ?? Also - any input on advantages/disadvantages to running springs in stock location rather then spring over shock style set up like Deadman23 posted up above... Both look like better options than stock. Newbie to RC Crawling working on initial set up - just contemplating which way to go. CD |

CDCRAWLER, the upper links are there just hidden by the servo. Either way is a better improvement over stock.
