This thread is awesome. This thread will help me greatly as I progress further into my cr-01 build, especially since I am a first time builder.

JD,
First time crawler enthusiast here. First of all, i would like to say very nice build! You have really gone into detail when it came to putting your Land Cruiser CR-01 together. I am actually getting the same exact tamiya model next week! Cant wait...

Anyways, i was lurking at URC forum and looking at a Land Cruiser CR-01 built and reviewed by Jang, who is the founder of the URC forum, and a major contributor on that site. In his Land Cruiser CR-01 build, he stated this:
''Also on step 16, the instructions say to use D6 (medium) spacers for the lower (longer) link mounts. Frankly, this doesn't work well. So little spacing at the mounting point they specify causes binding of the links against the side plates at the extremes of articulation, causing your chassis structure itself to have to flex like it was a spring. To avoid this, use D7 (thick) spacers instead.''

My question is, does the D7 spacers come with the kit? Or are those sold separately?

Let me know. Thanks in advance!

If you keep your CR-01 stock there should be no problems with driveshafts. Mine was great until I switched to a more sticky taller tire. Then I upgraded my driveshafts, then I ditched the canti-lever and then, and then and then.... However I am one of those people who can't live with the stock performance, if I can't make it over an obstacle I modify until it does it as you can see in some of my threads, it is nowhere near a scale vehicle at all...

I'll keep my CR-01 stock for now. I want to do a lot of crawling with it stock and modify it somewhere down the road.

I'll go check your threads out.

It's been over six years since I posted to this thread but the CR-01 is still going strong. The Traxxas drive shafts that replaced the stockers are doing great. I have added lights and rear wheel steering, upgrading to a 3-channel radio and waterproof Hi-Tec servos.

The body is battered but still intact and I've had to remove and clean the motor once. It made a huge difference and it's about time I did it again.

The truck is tons of fun on the rocks and on sandy beaches and the 4600 mAh NiMH means it just goes and goes. Still loving my CR-01!
