I believe the kit came with a 20T pinion. The smallest you can use is 16T.
Don't forget they are metric with a 48 pitch. Hope this helps.

I have had down to a 14t pinion in my CR-01 Gearbox. And as MR Syncro has stated its 0.6 module. 48dp will ruin the spur gear.

Technically yes you can.

But I wouldnt, as the Tamiya stock pinions are made from a very poor quality alloy. And the teeth wear quicker than the plastic spur gear. Then the alloy pinion wears the spur gear out.

Better of trying to find a steel pinion, RW racing and Ansmann if you can find them in Singapore.

Just curious, do you just want it to crawl slower? I was going to change the pinion gear but the guy at my local rc store recommended switching the motor over to a lathe motor. It's way more efficient and depending on the one you get a lot slower too. I also noticed a big improvement on the throttle control as well and I get about 1.5 hours of run time on a 4200 mah lipo.

I've ran RC4WD 80t motor wit 20t pinion. My 2yr old walks faster than it..
Using a silvercan is juz too fast for crawling n it heats up e esc n motor too.

Tried e combo of silvercan with 16t pinion. Better torque, less heat on e motor..
But e esc heats up pretty bad. Juz burned e esc juz nw..
Only 15mins of crawling..

You can use the Robinson metric(.6 module) pinions with no problems. I've used them with a Holmes 27T on a 3s for months and my spur gear is fine.

I know you can use 0.6 module pinions, its what I said.

I am using an RW racing 16t 0.6 mod pinion in my CR-01 with a rebuilt 35turn on 3s with no problems at all.
