| CR-01 Update???
Is anybody still buying the CR-01? It seems like there hasn't been an update to this one since it came out. I had to let this one go a while ago in lieu of another rock crawler. I'm reading on the Tamiya site how they're advising hobbyists to create they're own crawlers but...... TamiyaUSA.com - Build a Rock Crawler ....When will Tamiya make a serious crawler/basher that doesn't get hung up on rocks all the time??? Last edited by 1SweetRide; 10-02-2013 at 10:29 PM. |

To be honest, I'm a Tamiya junkie. I had to have a CR-01 to add to my collection. After building it, fully Hopping it up, and installing a brushless system, I can honestly say, its still the same truck. I love it for what it is... A fun, semi scale, multi terrain truck. Sure there are many other more capable crawlers out there. And there are many other more scale trail vehicles out there too, But in my opinion, it has something about it I just cant pin point. So buy one, build it, play with it, modify it, and have fun. Or buy a SXC10 for trailing, or a Bully for crawling... |

That page you are referring to is old as dirt. That's a TLT based truck there, and a (missing) link to their build of it. Tamiya doesn't exactly update their vehicles often (see CC01 chassis.) and rock crawling is not really their thing. I have 2 and a half CR's. They perform decently well with a bit of tinkering. Not a bad way to go if you want something different from the Axial crowd. |

I like my CR-01 Bronco. It's fun to drive and people are surprised where it will go. |

Mines a CR01 FJ40. Only mods I've done are better tyres with plenty of weight and the short spring set. It's now a fairly capable rig. Never gonna beat an scx10 but there's definately 'something' about them. I've got a Wraith, SCX10, CC01 and an R1 and I reckon the CR is probably the one I use most. Never going to win many comps but so what. Nice Bronco by the way, I've got one of those body's for it to build up, and I've got a brat body that might end up on there at some point. |

Here are a few pics of mine before I had to let her go. Tamiya is a the classic R/C company. I would just like to see a new rig that can really compete.... |

Seeing OSRCs custom rig, I almost forgot about this... Only really axles and tranny from the CR01, but it's still a CR01... |

It seems so narrow for CR axles, must be just the angle of the picture
