| What's your articulation like?
Curious to know what you guys are getting for articulation with your rigs. I am using a soft tensioner in the rear and none up front. Short barrel springs all around with soft up front and medium in the rear. What do you have? Before changes were made Last edited by Measuredpath; 11-26-2014 at 06:15 PM. |

Longer barrel springs and both sway bars are in place. |

Dirty 'Yota how do you like the 1.9's on the CR-01? I was tempted to go that route, but I didn't want to loose the height that you usually do with majority of 1.9's. or the mechanical grip on rocks with the girth this chassis has. Also, do you have body off shots with the dampers? I have been torn about doing the same, but I love the quirky setup. |

Run 2 very different set-ups: Gmade G-transition droop shocks on the bug, 40wt all around. Works VERY well, very predictable and stable. These shocks seem like they were made for this chassis. Separate spring/shock combo on the jeep. Short barrels, hard rear med front, with icon shocks and 60wt oil. Initially it had too much flex, was a bit tippy and didn't sidehill for nothing. (though a blast to wheel) Thanksgiving morning I sat down and added 10mm limiters inside the shocks, and about 10mm of rubber spacers back on the outer shocks shafts to limit overall travel by about 20mm or so. WHAT a difference. Still have a lot of flex, but it's much more controlled. Keeps the springs from stretching out of their sweet spot. Might add another 5mm inside the shock bodies as well and think it'll be dialed. I could swap over to the same shock set-up that the bug has, but I love the quirky set-up as well, and I'm finally got it to the point where it works almost as good. Both shots were from last weekend....trucks were in top form, though after 3+ years the rear ring and pinion on the bug finally started going. Last edited by OSRC; 12-05-2014 at 07:12 AM. |

OSCR - awesome pic's and love your new bug body! wicked paint job! I built up my Gmade shocks, not installed as yet, truck is still in a million pieces, but the shocks leak sitting on my bench and doesn't matter the position, horizontally, vertically, upside down, right side up... I used the oil that came in the package, any suggestions?

For sure, mine did too- terribly. I rebuilt them and used some plumbers teflon tape on the threads of the bottom seals and it worked like a charm.

| Re: What's your articulation like? That is what I used on the stock shocks which worked, think I can find that roll of tape now?! I noticed there is a small slit in the cap for the shock, thought it was for air, but I'll tape the crap out of it!

4" of articulation. That is with 90mm G-Transition shocks set up in droop and no sway bars. |

5"+ of flex running canti's with stock shocks. I think I'm running med springs in front and soft in the rear, with soft stabilizer in front and med in the rear. Wheelbase shortened to 11-3/16" to get the rear wheels tucked in a bit. Had a bit more flex before that, but I like this setup better. |
