Re: CR-01 Setup List

I'll play! I've got lots of scale rigs, but these two are my favorite. No idea why.

Crawling Bug

http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psadf0a41f.jpg
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0f5183a8.jpg

Chassis:
  • Ground and lightened GPM trans plate
  • 2mm 6061 sideplates, raised the transmission plate 1"
  • 2mm 6061 shock tower mounts
  • Plastic original trans plate mounted up top w/Integy AX10 battery tray bolted to it for battery
  • Modded Integy Bumper out front.
  • Front bumper mounted out back - rollover preventer, works great.
  • Stock SCX10 sliders grafted on

Drivetrain:
  • Axial transmission (stock internals)
  • Modded WB shafts
  • Diffs locked with 6 spider gears and JB weld, NO locking pin in axle (causes runout after a while)
  • Rear STRC lockouts w/1 piece axles

Electronics:
  • X-Car ESC/Turnigy 17.5 BL/2S only
  • Solar D651 servo
  • Hacked GT3B

Suspension:
  • GMade transitions in droop/45wt oil
  • Modded bent rear links, originally Venom Creeper links. Shortened and re-tapped.

Tires & Wheels:
  • Changes often, currently Losi Claws on weighted PL beadlocks. Prefer to stay around a 5" tire - seems to be the best balance of log CG and ground clearance

Hop Ups:
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psfe31a15b.jpg
Note, I was running Integy garbage C's and Knuckles up front since I got them for $5 a pair, so I stocked up. They held up decently well actually, and got much improved steering. Still have them on the Jeep below. I recently switched over to KM parts for the bug (shown above) - they are super beefy and fit perfect.

CR01 Jeep

http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps58cd9116.jpg
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psd70b6c90.jpg

Chassis:
  • 2mm 6061 Aluminum, extended out back to match the body. Same suspension geometry as stock.
  • Aluminum end caps...parts that hold the body mounts. No idea why.
  • Stock battery holder, and shiny aluminum radio plate (helps brace the chassis)
  • Modded Integy trans plate
  • Modded Integy Bumper out front.

Drivetrain:
  • Stock transmission
  • Modded TRX Jato shafts
  • Diffs locked Tamiya HD locker sets
  • Rear lockouts
  • Stock SCX10 sliders grafted on

Electronics:
  • Hobbywing ESC/Holmes Revolver outrunner/2S only
  • 645MG for steering
  • Hacked GT3B

Suspension:
  • Modded spring perches to remove cantilever mounts
  • Tamiya barrel springs (regular length I think, don't remember)
  • Axial icons/60wt oil, no springs, 10mm limiters inside, 5mm outside.

Tires & Wheels:
  • Changes often, currently Siped Flat Irons on weighted PL beadlocks. Prefer to stay under a 5" tire - seems to fit the body best. 1.9 PL XL's bolted on on occasion for fun.

Hop-ups:

....Cause there's a lot. :) Don't really need any of it, it's just purty.

"thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup""thumb sup"

Number 3 - as of yet unnamed. Not done, but built with leftovers from these 2. Same suspension as the jeep, open diffs and a 3150kv BL motor in at the moment. Not finished, lanquishing in a pile of unfinished aspirations.
