Hi there, Just got a new cr01 in a trade for a scx10 roller. Just a couple quick questions. It came with a new pro line bushwhacker body. Is this body the same wb as the Tamiya land cruiser body? There's so many options for drive shafts. Are the Tamiya metal ones the most popular? Thanks in advance. Just want to get painting on the body and upgrade the drive shafts for now... |

I can vouch for the Tamiya steel drive shafts, they have been great. Early on I lost a pin or two and dropped a driveshaft on the trail but I've fixed that simply by wrapping some tape around the end of the shaft so the pin doesn't back out. Shrink wrap would have been the proper way to do it but I didn't have any laying around. Also I know someone on here has got to have the Bushwacker body. I've seen it in person, but not for ages so I can't recall how large/small it is in comparison to the Tamiya body |

Much longer than the Tamiya body. 313mm wheelbase if i remember correctly, should still be on Proline's website as a legacy product.

I've been happy with the Tamiya steel shafts & also the junfac which are a little cheaper. The Tamiya body is a licensed Toyota FJ40 shell and although it's never specified, appears to be about '70 - '72. It's pretty nice and accurate for a lexan body. The bushwacker is obviously not licensed through Toyota although it's meant to look like a FJ40 body but it's pretty far off in my opinion. The Honcho shell can pass for a Tacoma but the PL body is too long, doesn't look like an FJ40 from a distance. But to each his own, but it's not in the ballpark compared to the Tamiya body as far as accuracy to the original Toyota goes.... of course Tamiya pays for that accuracy in licensing. |
