#3 - Ugly Betty Rides Again After hopping up my other 2 trucks, and along with a $40 set of axles I picked up as spares a while ago, I found I had enough parts to build a third truck. I was feeling nostalgic: I was rocking this beast back in 2009, I called her "Ugly Betty": http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...1/IMG_4226.jpg Having grown older, and hopefully wiser, I wanted to rebuild it - but better then before. Stronger! Faster! But just as ugly... So, here's the chassis. Stock chassis with a few extras here and there out of my parts pile. Stole the Flat Irons from my Jeep as I didn't want anything larger - was hacking up the body enough as it was. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps1jpoxfty.jpg Modified some axial units for some simple sliders. And for $9 each shipped, cheap and easy. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psgktetz8c.jpg Each CR has a different suspension set-up...This one has plain old stand up shocks on some custom shock mounts. 60wt oil and stock deadbolt single stage springs. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0gpnk617.jpg And the body...had it left over from an old CC01 (in fact, that's how the first one started too!) Left the RB livery on it - why not. It's sitting much, much lower than its predecessor. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psrunincoy.jpg So low, I had to hack up the front pretty good, but I like the overall stance. Bumper is beat up a bit, and some decal clean up needs to happen here. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...pscm15avvx.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...pssd4zr1sv.jpg And this one gets lights...didn't mess with the rear lowers, just did the uppers. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...pswqb32ijx.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psplejqf0n.jpg Group photo. Welcome to the party pal! http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...psjacxovwp.jpg All in all, love how it came together. Spring yet?? |

Agreed. Love to see what you do with these, and amazing how many variations you come up with. I have enough parts now to make a second, but it's on hold until I finish a few other builds. As for Spring, not here in NC. After snow twice with accumulation last week (we rarely get two accumulations in a whole season), freezing rain coming today. Ugh! |
Re: #3 - Ugly Betty Rides Again Looks great. Can't wait for spring! |
