Today I decided to go on the hunt for a few upgrades. I tried about 4 Hobby shops and was met with a Bewildered stare as to why anybody would bother to upgrade a CR-01 Finally my persistence paid off as not only did I find a store with some parts but the guy was also looking to get rid of them because......... "Nobody really bothers to Upgrade a CR-01" He didn't have everything I wanted, and I didn't want everything he had but what I did grab he gave me at half price. Then took it out for a spin at the local park. Oh Yeah also did a few changes to my Decals after some inspiration of looking at all 15 pages of the CR-01 Picture Thread. Thanks to the Local Council dredging one of the ponds and putting in anti erosion rock barriers I now have my very own Rock Crawler course. I have some Scale Body accessories on their way from Asiatees so more pics to come once they arrive |

OK. Whats up next for the Green Meanie project. I've got some parts on the way from Asiatees that are Scale accessories. This rig is more of a Trail Runner than a Crawler for me, so whilst it wont be absolute accurate Scale I still want to add a few touches of realism to it. So whilst I'm waiting for the parts form Asiatees I decided to scratch build my own CB Antenna for it. Built using a spare Antenna Pipe that I wrapped in Insulation tape for colour and mounted using a Cable Clip I had that pretty much perfectly matched the diameter of the Bull bar. All I had to do was drill the small nail hole in the cable clip out to 3mm to fit the Antenna Pipe. Behold. The Parts. The Colour. The Mounting. The Effect. It's not really AS tall as it looks in the angle of the pics. In terms of "Scale" it would be approx a 1.5mtr antenna which is about 5ft for you guys on the Imperial Scale. |

Looks great. Every time I see someone build one of these I get jealous. I really need to order one and get one built to play with.

Just did the "Zip tie" mod on my cantilevers. Took out a good deal of body wobble but not ALL of it as there is still a little bit of play where the Canti setup pivots on that bit of the upper spring mount. But its very minimal play. Hoping the rain holds off tomorrow so I can get in some trail runs to test it out |

| Re: The Green Meanie CR-01 Wow thanks man. Its quite basic in paint compared to some of the others I've seen in here. The colour choice came from a long time love of that colour. There's an old Aussie car from the late 70's and 80's called the Torana SLR 5000 that were often in this colour. Even though I was not even 10 years old at the time I loved it so there was no other colour this rig was gonna be once I knew I had my own choice. It also greatly impressed the shop guy I bought it off when I went back in and showed him my pics as he's Irish. Last edited by Green Meanie; 07-17-2015 at 02:45 PM. Ok so the Weather held off enough for me to get out and Boy did I get out. Took 3 NiMh stick Packs with me. 1 x 5000mah 2 x 2000mah The 5000mah ran for nearly 2 hours of mixed driving at slow and full speed with a bit of crawling here and there over some rougher terrain and a few downed tree branches. The 2000mah gets me about 1 hour of casual trail driving or about 25 minutes of flat out rampaging around in the dirt I like the results of the Ziptie Mod, Far less Body Wobble and it tracks nicely now. Here's a few pics. Yeah the driver needed to pull over for a Wee Stop. The bush in background is quite green from weeks of rain over last month or so. Conquering Ant Hills All in all a great afternoon, I was out walking for around 3 hours then spent the last 2000mah battery just racing about in a large dirt area til I killed it off I'm off now to a mates to drink about 3 gallons of his homebrew and undo the days exercises....... Cheers. |

I had a rollover and broke the imitation CB antenna off the front of Bullbar. I've made a new one using the plastic tube that holds the ink from inside of a Pen. Fits perfectly into the hole in the cable clip too |
