| New to me CR-01
Well, I've been wanting a CR-01 again, miss my old one I had when the Land Cruiser first came out so I did some trading and got this nice little rig. It's all stock except for Junfac steel driveshafts. I need to throw some electronics in it and I'll be ready to roll again. |

I did a few touch ups on the paint, installed a Tactic radio and steering servo out of a Deadbolt and a older AE-1 ESC and it's up and running again! |

A little update, replaced the stock silver can with a Tamiya "CR-Tuned" 35t motor and changed out the old AE-2 ESC that someone had in there with a Dynamite brushed crawler esc. Did a little crawling last weekend with it and it's much better. It's obviously not the most capable rig, but it is a fun one to run. |

Finally blew the dust off the CR-01 and got it going again. I had to use the electronics for something else so I had taken them out a while back. So. I took the Axial AE-5 ESC, the Tactic steering servo and Tactic radio system out of the wife's Bomber before I sold it as a roller. I also got rid of the stock servo saver and installed a nice aluminum arm and removed the front servo guard / bumper thing. Probably the best thing I could have done, was getting a set of the Tamiya "barrel springs". I installed those putting the "blue" springs in the front and the "yellow" in the rear. These springs lowered the ride height quite a bit. I also took the front tires off the rim and added 1oz of weight to each wheel then reinstalled the tires. I took the rig out yesterday to the RRW Krawlzone and ran the heck out if it. What a huge difference in performance, with the lowered CG the rig ran much better, only tipping over a couple of times (my fault). I'm still running the kit tires, with some better tires and a little more wheel weight it will be even better. Last edited by HDMM; 07-19-2016 at 05:41 AM. |

Sweet. I like the challenge of wheeling something that isn't point and go. Next best mod - tires. Those Vice Grip tires may just be the worst ever on any crawler.
