Default Newb question

hey guys, im lookin to build a tlt crawler/bogger. i already have a rustler and pede so i have a few extra tranny's layin around but i was wondering if i have to lock the diff in the tranny or just the axles. if so how do i go about doing that? thnx in advance

Yes, you need to lock the center tranny. Most people use jbweld or hot glue, but on another forum a guy modified the sun gears inside to lock up the tranny. Ok you will need 3 sun gears total. One you need to take down so it is only the gear with the teeth on it. The other two if you look at them, there is the shaft that the output yoke screws into, than the actual gear part, and than a small amount of excess metal. Remove that excess amount of metal so that it will just be the gear, and the output shaft. Than when assembling the tranny, put the sun gear, than the modified gear (only the gear with teeth, no output shaft) and than the other sun gear, and screw the diff back together. I'll disassemble my diff today and take pictures for you, as I'm sure you got confused
