Default upper link mount mod

I thought I would post this up . I used BENDER upper link mounts . The way any upper mounts screw to a TLT Axles is not that good . The plastic over time will break or the screws will pull out . So on my new Axles I made a L shaped bracket that bolts to the back of the housing and to the BENDER mount (using the stock link mount holes).I did cut the plastic tabs off the Axles (in pic I shows 1 tab off ) . Nothing out of this world but might help someone out . here is a few pics to show ...... I think I will paint the brackets black so they will blend in with the Axles .

I've been toying with something similar, so far I just have a lot of headscratching. But I think this solves it, thanks for taking the hard part out of it for me.

very nice
what guage sheet metal did you use
or was it allready bent and you just cut the shape out

those are some beefy axles

losi tires
beadlocks
spacers
cvds
aluminum
kuckles
im sure you have the rcp ring and pinion
msd axle c's
bearings
bender upper link and servo mount
and the bracker for reinforcement
and you have trimmed all the extra plastic to have all of those parts on it

Wow!
I've been brainstroming for the last 2 weeks with that same problem and question "how to fix it?" . You've done it in a much simpler way than what I had in mind. Good Job! I'll be doing the same thing! Thanks for figuring it out.

It looks like you are running the RCP CVDs and the MSD beadlocks...What size drill bit did you use to make the center hole bigger? Did you use a drill press?

Nice mod Badd. Looks stout.

I just drilled through the plastic arms you cut off, where the locating nubs are with a 3/32" bit. Then I ran a 2mm screw through the arms and the link mount, with a nut to hold them together.

same here, definatley a worth while mod thoe,it would be stronger. It would be cool to have the plate and the extra support be built all in to one piece.

ya i agree with ya rockmike
it would be sweet to have the upper link mount and the braket to be integrated into one piece
it would be very strong.

I started of with a 13/64 step up to a 7/32 and finished with a 15/64 . I did use a drill press just to make sure the holes where straight . the wheels fit tight over the CVDs .

yes I have always ran mine like that Griz . but I wanted something a little stronger on this build .
