Default My Super Slick Crawler

I picked one of those super slick crawlers at toys r us on saturday. It was ok stock, but I couldn't leave it alone. I extended the wheelbase only in the rear so that it fit a nice new dodge ram body. Then I put some bigger tires/wheels on it. It crawls pretty well for it size. The only bad part is the lack of a speed controler. Enjoy!

Thanks guys! To extend the drive shaft with a piece of aluminum that I turned on my lathe. I had to j.b. weld it into place and also glue the drive shaft into the transmission so it doesn't just fall out.
The tires and body are both from a Raminator power truck I found at wal-mart. They also have a ford bigfoot truck for you ford fans.
All the crap in the background is other projects I am working on. If you go to my website, www.milkmanconcepts.com, you can see most of them. I customize just about everything LOL!............Aaron

I understand you lengthened the shaft with aluminum. Do you mean the outer part that we can see, or the part that actually hooks into the tranny? I just got a SSMT the other day and want to customize it by lengthen the shaft and wheelbase, and making it a better rock crawler.

If you have more detailed pics, that would help. Or just explain with words. Thanks!

I am going to say that it can be a good pebble crawler, at best. The center diff/trans is a very weak pont, and the battery life sucks.

To make a good rock crawler, I tossed it all in the trash, except for the axles, and am starting from scratch!

milkman,

Just checked out your site. You do some pretty cool work man. I look forward to seeing you build a TLT if you can find the time.

That's about all I have to say.

It's only at Toys 'r' Us. Keep looking. Maybe check the website. My local TRS has them. I'm getting another one to try out with different tires, as I glued very grippy knobbed tires to my first one.

Kevin, yeah...I figured out I don't need an outer tube. I'm just working on a way to lock the shaft into the transmission outer piece (don't want to just glue it...) and then I'm all ready to start making chassis plates and the 4-link suspension.

I like this truck 'cuz it's cheap fun that is still quality enough to make reasonable mods to...
