Default TLT Update

so, i was out crawling the other weekend and i rolled my truck down a 30 foot river embankment. on each bounce, i was like, "its ok", "its ok", "its ok", then.... "doh!" the truck stopped and the left wheel rolled away.

turns out, the outter cup axle broke:

so, since i was going to have to repair it, i decided that i might as well update it as well.

so i took off all these parts:

and added all these parts:
  • RCP Crawlers copper alloy locker
  • RCP Crawlers TLT CVD Axles
  • RCP Crawlers Super-Max Clearance TLT Aluminum Knuckle
  • Fat-Rock Stainless Steel Axle C's
  • Axial 2.2 Rocksters Beadlock
  • Pro-Line 2.2" Moab M3

i also removed the rear steering:

obligatory flex shots:

under chassis shot:

i sure hope to god that i never have to take apart those axles ever again. it was such as PITA getting the axels rebuilt; the biggest pain was fitting the axle c's. i kept having to shave the axle housing and the axle c itself just to get it over the axle housing. on the rear, i finally had to drill out the holes in the axle c to get the screws in.

but, it was all worth it. the drive line does feel much more solid and now the truck is comp-ready. although, it seems like comp-ready now-a-days also means a dig setup

i was hoping for more steering (i maxed out the EPA's), but i guess its ok since the axles are near bullet proof

well... i drilled and shaved the axel c's so that the knuckles move freely so the servo wont have to work so hard, but that is a cool mod for the axle c. are there any other advantages to that?

Just easyer on the servo . the Alum or even the stainless Cs will wear with the screw head rubbing agaist them . putting the bearings in will keep everything tight .
