| New take on crawling suspensions...THE MACHINE!
I'm posting this for one2crawl... This is my newest design, based off of a Tamiya Baja King (TAO1 chassis) touring car chassis! It features locked-out (maxx-style) arms, 3-link suspension, brass turnbuckles and links, lathe motor, GD-600, SR, TI servos (HSC-5897's) and All-T's on HPI wheels. The motor is front mounted with offset, high-angle driveshafts to the rear. Center chassis clearance is 5.75", and axle clearance is at 2.75" with All-T tires!!! WB is 12.5 @ ride height. The center chassis is actually a cut-up mammoth shock tower with carbon fiber shock standoffs. I also used wheel wideners on the rear axle (which was actually the front axle on the touring car). Imagine....Maxx-style axle clearance, "stick" style center clearance, lower CG than a clod, all in a 2.2 size!!! Here 'ya go, enjoy!!! |

You won't know till you break it on the rocks, but it looks good. Nice Low center of gravity, killer clearence but I'm not familiar with that Tamiya rc car. Will the gears hold up. I LIKE IT. Updates ....pics the usual :-P Last edited by NoodleSpank; 06-25-2005 at 02:15 PM. |

Looks great, very inovative! I like the chassis and the way you ran the driveshaft back from the front mounted motor. A few concerns is that the motor might get hung up? I cant tell from those pics and also the axles look STEEP! Great work though!! Brandon |

Definatly Tell Him He Needs A Motor Guard. The Way That Motor Sticks Out Is Just Asking To Get Beat Up. NATE |

| We had it out on the rocks today, so far, no hang-ups with the motor. The gear ratio needs to be tweaked though, it's still to tall even with the GD. |

WOW.. I too have been thinking about a forward mounted axle assembly/motor setup with a driveshaft running to the rear axle. Great minds think alike I guess.... although you have it running before I can even get all the thoughts down onto paper first Nice work!! I'd just worry about the spur gear in the Tamiya gear box. Other than that it shoul hold up pretty well. |

Actually what you have there is a TL-01. Its a very nice setup and something I never dreamed of doing with that car. Ive two sitting in my garage at the moment. Very nice setup. I dont think you have to worry about those gears though, they can take some abuse. I hope you have bearing in there though. Keep up the great work.

thanks for the clearification on the chassy type, I couldnt remember what it was, its very old, this car used to sit an 1/8 '' off the ground with a 10 turn motor in it, 12 years ago. it has full bearings in it and uses tlt knuckles.the trans is built as tuff as a clod, so no worries there, but the gear ratio is my only problem.I got my hands on a plastic welder and was able to find a 11 tooth pinnion for the gd-600 so will see.the motor is in no real danger, not shown in the pics is my cutting board skid. THIS IS ONLY A PROTOTYPE and only one of three trucks in the works Unlike most, I think we are all on the same side if you see my idea make something better kick my butt with it, ill be first in line to shake your hand.If you cant drive rc trucks with out having nothing but fun YOUR IN THE WRONG HOBBY. Ill get some more picts and vids up this week .thanks to Rich for posting the pics and azvader aka" magic mike" for coming out on sat for the test even though it wasnt ready. The next comp it will be. |

I may be crazy, but where's the new take on suspension? Locked IFS with 4 shocks we've done before. Now the crazy chassis and driveline, Kudos! Get some action pics of this thing. |
