Ok time for a little update before leaving.
I decided to keep the leaf for the Flatbed yota and returned to the coil springs. I kept the new side dumper position. I moved arund a bit some suspension parts. I think the final geometry is really close.
Then I started to think where to put things. first I thought about the winch and then the shifting servo. The room available is very little, so I had to think a lot hard before I found a solution.

I prolly found a position for the ESC, but where to put the RX is still a mistery to me.

Let's talk the pics:

Here's the puppy with and without body as she is now.

Under the hood. As you can see there a lot of things here
Consider that there's even the steering servo right under the motor
The vertical servo close to the motor is the winch

Shifting servo.
It's a small one I had laying around. It's soooooo cute ;)
Believe me I spent at least 4 hours to find a working position that let me mount the body low as I want.

Here's a front view with the bumper mounted. I'm satisfied the winch is almost completely hidden.
A vertical drum is not so scale, but there is NO way to have it rotated.

Bumper removed. The winch is still supported at both end. there is a ball bearing inside the supporting plate.
Obviously the wire is not here

Rear suspension returned to separated coil and springs.

She's turnig out good

Well it's time to show you some progress.
I found a place for all the electronics. It' s funny that looking at the rig now the parts positions seems
obvious and easy, but when they weren't there it wasn't at all

Here you are some shots of the crowded front section.
I'm quite satisfied even by the look.
Weight seems to be moved a lot toward the front even with the battery in the rear.
There are some little things I still have to do (as always )

The underbelly center of the rig.
There some work to be done here. I have to replace the temporary square parts
that hold the lower links with something definitive.
A skidplate is needed even.
The collar on the spur is from a Tamiya servosaver and is there to prevent the pin
that connect the spur to the shaft to fall out.
The "C" shaped parts are the tranny mounts.

AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

caps filter to keep n00bs and l33tor gits from filling the forum with caps all over. Basicly it takes "ALL CAPS" and converts it to lowercase. I do see badgers point though sometimes caps is needed.

Do these help?

This is the 2.0 release winch set up. Currently I only shortened the drum.
I enlarged the hole in the servo case to accept the alloy tube (8mm)
The alloy tube is secured to the servo final gear with a simple 2mm screw and nut.
There's a smaller tube (6 mm) inside the main one that support the ball bearing.

Hope it's clear if you need more just ask ;)

I think you were on to something with the quarter eliptical rear suspension. If you need pics of the actual set up go to www.rockyroadoutfitters.com and look at the yellow rock spider samurai on that site. They sell this setup for the samurai and they have very detailed pictures. I am personally inspired by your project and I am on the hunt for a Suzuki Samurai body to make a scale crawler. Anyone know where to find a scale body to make my dreams come true?
