Default G-Rob's Latest

I've been collecting parts and working on this rig as time/money permits, and I've about got it finished. I sold / parted out my other rigs, so this is my only rig. This rig has already been built (by me) and ran (by me), so I wouldn't call this a "build thread"... think of it more as a "showcase thread..."

Specs are:
Chassis: Reign J2-TT, stock width, custom spacers
Axles: locked TLT, Fat-Rock C's, RC4WD adapters, Aluminum knuckles
Transmission: RC4WD R2
Links: custom uppers, Traxxas lowers
Shocks: Maxx, 1/2" copper spacers, black Traxxas springs
Shafts: Stampede
Yokes: Steel Stampede at axles, plastic at Tranny
Servo/Link mounts: Bender Front, EZ Designs Axle Truss 2 Rear
Body: Pro-Line C-10 (for now)
Wheels: Axial Rocksters, weighted, skinny rings out
Tires: Pro-Line Moabs, full foams
Servo: HiTec HS645mg, Aluminum horn
ESC: Novak Rooster, blacked out wires
Motor: Saturn (HPI) 27t, HH Sticker
Radio: Futaba T2PH
Batteries: Elite 1500 6 cell saddle packs

What all I want to chage:
-Chassis Braces: right now, they're wooden dowl wrapped in a CF sticker, but I'd like to change them out to some nice round black delrin braces
-Body: I hate the C-10, I'll eventually get either a BUG (if I can find one...) or a Grappler
-Axles: the only thing I have left to do to the axles is bearings, but the new CVD's from MIP are lookin better and better...

OK... enough talk here are some pics!
(I tore it down for a good cleanin, so these pics are of me re-asselbmling it...)

Naked Shot: no wheels, tires, tranny, motor esc, radio, batts

Frontal Shot

Front Suspension

Rear Shot

Rear Suspension

Under Belly Shot (sounds nasty...)

Tires and Wheels

Wheels and Tires on

Showing Battery

Rear again, this time with wheels & tires

I still need to do a bit of soldering on my ESC before it and the Trans, etc. are ready to be put back in, but I've gotta go get some more supplies, so it'll have to wait...

and to think... I damn near sold this'n...

Lookin' good! Get that thing put back together and pick a spot for a gtg. My 2.2 is finally back together, all dressed up and nowhere to go.

I love the truss... I was a little iffy, cause I didn't want it to be too "scale"... but it really turned out nice... I saw another comp TLT with the same truss (it was on a nicer chassis...) and automatically wanted one...

I haven't got it out yet... it seems like I'll never catch a break... the esc I was using decided to shit the bed, so basically my truck is completely done except for an ESC... and a body...

I'm working again... but don't get payed for a while. I'll be buying the rest of the parts I'm lacking out of my check, so expect an update!

I know... this update is WAAAAY overdue... but it's gonna happen all the same.

Since my last update, I've got it running, got a new esc, been to a g2g, taken pics, and got more new parts!

I'm still waiting on delrin chassis braces to come in... and I still need a couple more batts, but otherwise it's "done"...

I need to get some capacitors for my motor... I got some crazy interferance with my am rx/tx...

EDIT (1.15.09): I don't know what happened to the pics... so as opposed to leaving red x's, I deleted them...

I kinda lucked out and was able to mount my RX on my tranny, and the batts was a new idea for me, but both worked really good... I've been mounting my ESC on the rear links like that since I can remember... seems to be the only place it fits...

If I had to set it up any other way, I'd mount the ESC, and the RX on the Rear axle... but this way is working for me...

hope you get it all figured out... and thanks for commenting on my thread

I think they'll look pretty sick!

expect an update as soon as I get the rings, get them installed, and buy a new camera (plan on going camera shopping tomorrow)

Lookin' pretty good, Bubb. Like Billy said before get her done and pick a spot for a gtg. Can't wait to see her run. I bet she'll be a really good running truck.

This is the same truck I was running at Coronado... and yeah it worked good for me then... but now! I bet I won't be able to stop driving this thing once I get it on the rocks...

I bought a new camera today (Fuji-Film Finepix J10), so as soon as the rings come in, expect a pretty big (and picture filled) update...

Once it gets warmer, I think Coronado would be a nice place to go again...

That looks sweet Greg! Speaking of getting it on the rocks, I found another testing spot here in town on Iron Horse Rd between Main and Maxwell. It's not much, but beats the culvert at the park by the cemetary! Also feel free to stop by and play on the pile of rocks here at the house. I'll PM the address.
