well... its all torn apart. i got the axles done, 6 1/4" (i believe) at the hexes. with the tamiya wheels im gonna be running, its 7" at the outside of the wheels. they've got better bead than the HPI wheels and the hex area is stronger as well. HPI wheels have a habit of slipping hexes. and these tamiya wheels are gonna look bitchin with these badass rock rings on them from 62pyro. i modified the old rear axle upper link plate to center the link mount. and made a new servo/link plate for the front out of .080" styrene, ill cut one out of aluminum soon. styrene is a great tool for making parts though. tomorrow the axles are going to work with me to get the diffs shaved. |

alright we are up to roller status! i decided since it's gonna be small and light i could get away with running an hs225mg servo for steering. the losi trucks are running similar sized tire with similar servos so i should be fine. the smaller servo REALLY improved my upper link situation on the front end. allowed me to relocate the uppers so they clear the driveline. i made a prototype servo/link plate for the front end out of styrene, ill cut one out of aluminum at work this coming week. im hoping to be able to get a micro sidewinder to fit on the front end as well. i'd still like to try a smaller motor, mainly for weight reasons, and this is a 35t, it'll likely bo too fast. i was gonna scrap the j2 idea but i'll keep it now, besides this one holds some sentimental value to me, ive owned it since the j2 first came out. still running the 3Racing mini LST shocks and axial trans. since i narrowed the axles to use 2 short shafts i can get away with more wheel offset now, so im running these old tamiya f-150 wheels. ill probably end up running about 2-3oz in each. the 1.9 dirthawgs aren't permanent, they're just for mockup. ill end up with either 1.9 flatirons or SDI trail DR XLs. these are only 3.5" tall. anyway, picture time.. i know the links don't look straight but its the angle the photo was taken at. well. i was never completely happy with the j2 setup even though i never actually drove it. so i rebuilt it today. i used a delrin chassis that i had cut a while back and it came out smaller than i needed so it sat in a drawer until now. im also using tamiya touring car shocks now as apposed to the mini LST shock i was using. ill probably chop the ends off the chassis where it sticks out a ways. and im not gluing up these tires, im waiting on some 1.9 mayhems. alright, **** that, back to the J2 chassis... i built it back up today as a result of watching rockedup ricky's 1.9 TLT video... all i need right now is a body and some tires. its got a rooster crawler ESC, novak 2 cell lipo cutoff and spektrum radio now.

Pretty sweet build dude. I'm wanting to do this with some tlt axels i have right now. Maybe you can fill me in on your length and width of your truck. And how wide your chassis is, and you axels? I don't wanna copy you i just wanna make sure mine is lookin like a proper 1.9 |
