| Axle pinion angles
Hey Guys, I was wondering if any of you tilt you axles foward or backwards to get the driveshafts to bind less. I am having some binding issues and this is the only way that seems to fix them. How does doing so affect you suspension geometry? I know it has to do something bad...Haha. Please let me know. Thanks! |

Thats what I did but I was wondering how it will affect the suspension geometry with all that castor change.....

i doesnt really do much to the geometry. I think youll be fine

The one problem I see is the angle of both universal joints not matching. However, with an r/c truck I don't think any of your passengers will complain about the vibrations.

It mangles your steering angles. Angling the axles in the rear works wonders because theres nothing turning horizontally. When the front is angled forward its basically turning the wheels toward the ground, drastically affecting your turning radius.... but theres more stub clearance. Bah. Terry |

As CrawlnSlow says the only thing changing the axle angle affects is steering. You will chew off the edges of your tyres faster as well >_> I try to run my axles level with my lower links. ( basicly the pinion side faces up to the motor.) Last thing I want to do is drag my yoke on rocks. Rather drag links, they are cheaper. Never had binding issues though, Usualy you have to be at some tight angles to have the yokes bind on eachother. |

Im not sure if im having binding issues or not. All I know is that the truck rolls free with no driveshafts connected to the tranny but when I connect them it has more resistance than I like. I guess it could be the natural resistance of the tranny (maxx). This is an all around trail rig im building so I dont want to sacrifice any steering or do anything to screw up suspesion geometry. -Aaron- |
