Default RCP's Bastard jr.

It seems a year ago when I first saw the bastard jr. chassis, and I knew I had to have one. Now that RCP crawlers has them in stock, I was finally able to get my hands on one

TLT axles filled with RCP goodies
Vanquish rims
Novak Goat
Hitec 5955
2S lipo
Losi Rock Claws
No dig!!

I got a little creative with the shock setup on this one... I'm running Traxxas big bores in the front setup for full droop, and fully sprung Revo shocks in the back. So far it works great, but its maiden voyage will be at RCP tomorrow night... Look for an update soon

Can you post a PIC of your battery and placement? I am still trying to figure out how to do mine!!! What springs are you running in the front shocks? Below or above the piston? Thanks!

I see it, it's on the rear upper links.

So far I'm just running a small spring (stock TLT I think?) under the piston. I'm using a small Impulse 950mah lipo on the rear links. You can kind of see it in the pics, but I'll grab a better shot later today

Sure... I'm really liking the way it handles.
I would highly recommend the chassis to anyone who wants a cool looking rig that performs well

Had the honor of driving this rig last night at the RCP friday night fights and it drives crazy good. I was very suprised at the perfomance of the Bastard. Great work Jake you built another winner.

Thanks for the reply. I just was wondering if you had any problems with the battery hitting the chassis in its current location restricting suspension articulation?

Not at all... I even switched to an Electrifly 1500mah pack, and it fits perfectly. With different shocks and more uptravel it could be a problem though.

Its holding up very well

Here's some wheeling pics

I switched to 50wt. oil in the fronts, and 20wt. in the rear to keep the suspension from unloading too much. This thing is a climbing machine now! I can pull up to this ledge and bump the throttle, and the rig just launches up it

I did manage to explode a rear CVD, however it had been in there for almost a year, so I think it had a good run. I put in a new one from RCP and its all ready to rock again... See you guys at FNF

I took the lil' bastard rig to Sincityrcrc's season opener last weekend, and it did quite well. Even with no dig, I managed a 6th place finish against some pretty impressive drivers and rigs. I finished the comp with a score of -2, but missed the shootout by just two points

Since my last post, I've switched to big bores in the rear, and added 60wt. oil and RCP's internal droop springs in all four shocks. The heavier oil and internal springs really keep this rig planted. I've got this rig doing 95% of the obstacles my old banana would do, and I think that's pretty impressive for a tuber.

Here's some of Dieselfuel's awesome shots from last weekend

and the beginning of my downfall

Overall, I'm really happy with this rig. Even with no dig, it performed well enough to keep me within striking distance of several pro caliber drivers/rigs. We'll see what happens this weekend when I put the rig up against some of the best in Socal. I'm just hoping there's a little less shurbbery on the courses...

I always thought Bastards liked being in the bush.

Rig looks great, I need to do something w/ the one I have sitting here.
