| My first TLT : Die Volkskriecher **56K beware**
I just finished my first TLT. THe build was uneventful and she climbs very well. I'm still making small changes buy I'm pretty sure this will be the final setup. The articulation is fairly mild compared to many I see on this board but it works well for me. She is named "Die Volkskriecher" which translates as "People's Crawler." Specs:

nice dude. i have a few suggestions for you tho. sleeve your steering link in some 3/16 brake line or atleast some aluminum tubing. then move it above the knuckles. lower the body alot and lower the cg a little bit. ditch the stock tranny, shave the axle housings, make a center skid, and at the very least, get that body dirty! harris |

Cool I was to chicken to do my whole body in that stuff! Suggestion rotate those link carriers so the hanging out bit is on top. And maybe placing the uppers on the inner side of that bracket so it isnt binding on the link end. I was wondering when someone would use that body too. Saw it at a small shop in wseattle, but passed it up cause of the scoop. Definely has a better hood shape than mine! |

What was said about the steering up there, and move your lower links lower on the chassis. if your links are sliding along some rocks they'll snag real quick like on the bottom of the chassis.

slick ride! its sooo purdy... the links are Ti, so i dont think he needs to sleeve them. the body is scuffed too, those are just the shots back when the weather was nice. i hope capen is dry on sunday, i just might have a crawler running for once. |

I plan to trim the bottom of the chassis and install an Al center skid. | ||||

Alright all you unbelievers, I took a closeup of some of the scratches when we went out to Capen park today. There's even a shot of it in the mud for RIVERdude69. I stuck a couple shots at slightly different angles so you can see the color change of this paint. The change is even more dramatic than the pics make it look; maybe a video would work better... |
