Hey Baron thanks.

I fell hard for one after Ricky's Thread and video of his "Ares". It's a nice platform I really like the skid and link options.

Thanks sddill I'm very satisfied with the kit it's very well done some folks have done their homework on this one IMO.

Thanks Rock I'm doing fine and the build has been very satisfying.
I like the chassis the "Ares" is going to be work horse I can just tell.
It's got the room to mount equipment low in the belly for a low COG.
The links will be long for smoothness and stability. In fact I measured for the upper and lower links today. I'm doing Ricky's set up on mine and a the links should all be the same and that's what I had 115 mm eye to eye all eight of them.

I'm excited to get it on some rocks.

Build looks great Norm! This is one chassis I have been thinking about for myself. Hopefully I will get to look at this one close up real soon. Just pray for spring to hurry up and get here!

I'm diggin' your jig system. I hope you don't mind if I use your idea?
This is an awesome build too. A 35T Warrior? I'd love to get my hands on
one of those. JP Custom RC is either out of them or I don't have the money
when he does have them!:-(
Now get back to the Scout build!

Hey Gyrene the jig is not a new idea or my idea and I would highly recommend it's use. You'll get great measurements in the jig and your link mounts will be right the first time.

I'm lucky I have an original "Warrior" JP is getting them in again now in a different can but very similar in preformance.

I got my head and tail lights yesterday from Stefan and they are Bling Bling. But the comp rig needs to come first so it will be awhile until I can get back on the Scout.

Thank you for your comments I appreciate your input.

I've been waiting on some parts (rod ends) and materials but I managed to get the lower Delrin links done and the uppers measured, cut, drilled and tapped so when my "stuff" shows up I'll be flying.

One of the things I used this time to get my link measurements was a small length of music wire with a hook on each end. Just hook it and mark it with a pen then measure. It was very accurate and because I'm working in the jig it won't let you cheat all.

I was looking at filling some time and the body needed mounting. I started looking at my body post collection when I got this idea.

Mount it without body posts. I think the "Ares" chassis makes this pretty easy.

I'm using a XC-1 and this just sort of happened.

I marked and cut two square holes in the windshield.

Then cut two notches in the "Ares" chassis.

By locating a Velcro covered cross member in a shock mount hole that I probably won't use and another piece of Velcro on the body. The front simply hooks on the chassis and gets locked down by one piece of Velcro at the back.

It's very sturdy amazingly.

The front.

You can actually pick it up by the body jig and all.

The lower links got installed I used some stainless threaded rod instead of bolts and the just right spacers.

The "Ares" skid gives you two options for the links to connect to. I chose the longest option.

I also burned up some time on a dig servo bracket. I love all the room in the back of my "Ares" and was able to get a nice solid set up for the VF dig.

My linkage has a thumb screw on the end and you can actually get 1/8" adjustment mechanically either way on the engagement if you ever need it.

The other thing I got done was my front link mount which still needs hardware but I couldn't help myself I just had to post a mock up.

Well that's all I have till the mailman makes a delivery.

Norm I gotta tell ya. I really like how you mounted up that body. I think ill start including some strips of velcrow in the kits from now on. It simple, effective yet VERY clean. Less weight up top with out mounts. No hang ups on the side where the mounts could have been and its VERY strong as well. The "Norm Notch" method! I like it.

That dig servo mount is really clean. I really like how straight the linkage is. Nice job on the rig so far Norm. Love the front mount and ready to see that mask job get done up.

Thanks Rocky the body mounting method is really efficient and I think it can be done with most bodies.

The linkage is dead on and it has a mechanical advantage when tuning the engage /disengagement set up just by screwing it in an out a little less than 1/8" each way I think it will be helpful.

There isn't much out there for TLT axles anymore so your pretty much on your own. It should work pretty well I've been thinking about new axles for quite awhile I like the new Axial gearing available for theirs. My "old TLTs" are still pretty smooth and bullet proof.

Well it's officially a "roller" I know "what took you so long"? I am a slow ass builder just like my buddy PYRO62 Pat and I like it that way.

Every thing on this first fit up is good and meets my expectations with the exception of the rear upper links are still a little long for my liking and the connection to the link mount might change as it's experimental.

The skid plate clearance is 3" it has lots of articulation I might have to limit the Losi's a little.

Yeah thanks Rick.

The "Crawersota" guys are really a blast to hang out with not a bad apple in the bunch and really a bunch of jokers to. You'll have some laughs among that group. They are all good competitors as well.
