| My "Never Done" TLT-10 This is my build up from my "stock" TLT-1 to what I have now. I call it "Never Done" because, well, it will probably be never done. I'm always looking to improve it or change something in some way. The first pic is the original from about a month or two after the TLT-1 was released. Then the other few pics were the first stages of turning it into a crawler (May 2005). Pretty much just extending the links & dogbones, new body, and shock positions. Let me know what you think. | I eventually moddified the TSC-10 chassis so I could laydown the tranny. I added a piece of lexan as a skid to help prevent getting hung-up. I also purchased a custom battery pack to help even more to lower the COG. The battery is a 6-cell 1800mah 4/5A NiHM pack. (Aug 2005) There's More.... | And after getting my Bronco body painted and a set of 2.2 Moabs, I hit the rocks to get some photos (taken yesterday). (Sep 2005) Like the name says, "Never Done", I still have a couple things I want to do. Like get a better ESC so I can get rid of the RX battery. I love that Bronco body..the paint looks great. Nice work on the truck! I have found that my crawlers are never finished, either...theres always something to change or try.....Maybe thats why they are so addictive.... Tim AG4RZ |

Looks good! How are you liking the chassis? When you modded it to lay it down flat, did you stick in some extra bracing down at the tranny? I know Jakhammer did the same and it weakened the frame to the point where it bent on one outting. I think he removed more material though. Anyway, bronco body looks great. For ever better crawlability, you can lay the battery front to back. I velcro mine to the battery, moved a few posts around, and now it can climb like no tomorrow. |

| So far I really like the chassis. Laying down the tranny was definatly a possitive thing. I haven't had any issues with bending the chassis. I only cut one of the chassis plates and tried to do as little as possible because of that very reason. With the skid on there it's harder to hung up on the inside, so no bending of it outward. The chassis plate #2 (arrow) should be just fine. the tranny is butted up tight to it, so no bending inward. And the tranny's not going anywere. I put 2 long bolts connecting both plated together with a couple nuts to prevent the tranny from moving around (arrows # 1). The only weakness I can se is the plate that I cut has really nothing preventing it from pushing in toward the center(#3). I figure if I start to see a problem I'll add a couple nuts and bolts to the existing holes on that side and make them butt up next to the tranny (more like "stops" to prevent the plates from pushing in). | I also did a liitle bit of tweaking with the link setup on the axles. I wanted to get the links up higher without having to bend them. And I had seen something similar on here before. So I went to the friendly neighborhood Home Depot and picked up some spacers to raise the upper links a bit. And in turn then raise the lower links up to the same spot the shocks were mounted. (sorry, no before pics) It helps with a little of the link clearence and I think it looks a little better. And it was only $.39 per pair of spacers. don't let the upper and lower links on the axle get too close to each other's axis (vertically). the closer they are to each other the easier it will be for the main axle torque to shear a joint or break something. edit- i'd use the lower position for the lower link. you're not really losing any ground clearance because the drive axle will still be much lower than the link. |

Anyway, took it to a comp. this last weekend and had some pretty decent drops, with no breaking of the link setup (which everyone keeps telling me is bound to happen ) and the extra clearance just rocks. |

| They are curently the same distance apart from each other as they were with the original setup. I made sure to measure the distance to where the lower links were going to be located and then purchased spacers thet were just 1/16" longer than that distance. So technically they are now 1/16" farther apart. But I know what you mean. I'm not going raise the links any further, I've reached the limit for now. And if something does break, or I notice it's going to break, I'll probably move the links around again. Thanks for the Input, everybody. |

| Alright, I've done a little more to the truck... Well the wheels at least. I added about 3oz of weight to each front wheel. I would have done it inside the tire on the rim, but didn't think about doing it till everything was glued up. But it works plenty good where it is now. I started with 24- 1/4oz lead weights by GreatPlanes. Test fit to see how many could fit on each wheel. It turned out that it was 12 on each. Theoretically about 12-1/2 could fit, so they need to be seperated a little. I numbered the picture to show how I went about putting on the weights so they were divided evenly. While putting on the weights I realized that I would be covering up the air holes on the wheel. So, I redrilled holes after I was finished (arrows A & B). So far I like the change.
