Default New Chassis

Mods, if you feel like I'm overstepping my boundries, feel free to delete this thread. If you do decide to delete this thread please pm me with your problem first so I may fix the problem.

I'm considering buying a vendor star and selling a TLT chassis. My question is, would anybody be interested in another option for a TLT-10 chassis?? It would be machined out of aluminum and set up for a 60/40 link setup and will use a Stampede tranny. It would include two chassis plates, one tranny plate made out of very slick delrin, and one electronics plate. Pricing would be very reasonable.

The design might change slightly from the above picture as more testing is done. Tell me what you guys think. Either post up, e-mail me, or pm me.

A larger pic would be nice, clicked and it didn't make it any bigger. But from what I can tell it looks like a clean setup.

Snowkd, you are fine for now with this thread. But, don't talk at all about pricing or availability otherwise this thread can be deleted without warning.

Cool... Well done. Perhaps an additional support brace at the front on top just behind the shock mounts. Though it is probably strong the way it is. I like it, like previously mentioned... "very clean".

So far there have been no problems without an additional support brace.

all's i'm sayin' is that it's a whole lot more than ya think it is. i know there's a lot more than i thought there was. designing it is the easy part.

at times like this a movie quote is always helpful. from Body Heat:

Mickey Rourke to William Hurt: (i'm doing this from memory so it may not be 100% verbatim) "You know, Counselor, a wise man once told me, any time you try to do a crime, you got fifty ways you can **** up. You think a half a them you're a genius. An' you ain't no genius."

Substitute the word "chassis" for "crime" and that's where we're at.

God help us all.

Looks cool. How much does it weigh as configured in the pic?

Looks nice and clean, but if the tranny sits on top of that thick black plate, it's not as low as it can be. You can consider thinning out part of that so that everything can fit lower (not sure if there's enough space though).

It's still in the R&D stages so we'll se how it works. Thank you for your input though.

Its a very simple design, so I imagine machining costs would be quite low. Microgoat is right though, I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. Its alot more hours than you think. Thats the reason I went from sellin my chassis kits at cost (meaning you only paid for the plates, hardware, and shipping, and no labor on my end) to adding some padding to that to cover the man hours of all the work to get the chassis' packaged and sent out.

You also have to test it out and really give it a good pacing. I'd suggest even sending it to another trusted TLT user to make sure their testing shows its durability. Also, you have to account for different people's setups (links, shocks, etc...). But if you have all that squared, get a star and get the chassis shipping out.

Those screws were just for mock up. I plan on using regular philips head hardware.

It's even lower when you have a friend in the buisness .

The chassis in the picture was actually sent out to another user on this forum. When he get's it all setup he should post pictures.
