| noob axle question
How does the tlt axle compare to the axial strength wise? I have an ax10, a CC and a set of tlt axles. I also have a new 3CH transmitter,new esc,motor,R2 trans and lots of fabbing junk. My idea is to build a "semi" scaler and a comp rig. which axles should I use for the comp rig? TLT or axial?

The Axial is much stronger than the TLT, and about a half inch wider. Alot of guys use the TLT axles on scalers because it's easier to tuck the tires under a body. I'd run the Axials on your comp truck, and the TLT's on a scaler.

In stock form the Axials are stronger. The tlt's can be made strong, but you would be looking at extra money. Some MIP cvd's and aluminum C's, knuckle's, and straight axles and you will be ready to compete with the tlt's. I am still running tlt's on my comp rig, and I love it. But I've had mine for almost 4 years now, and am set in my ways. That and I love the look I get when people realize that they were beat by a pair of TLT axles. It's just personal preference. Have fun with your build, any way you chose to build it.

I bought the axles already built a little(dif. shafts and aluminum knuckles). I was thinking scaler with the tlt's but i'm leaning toward scaler/rockracer now. I have accumulated about $1500 in parts over the last month(thank you U.S. ARMY back pay) but don't wanna spend a ton more, so i'm thinking all my stock axial parts will end up building a scaler until I can afford to beef it up. I just wanted to know which axles would hold up the best. Thanks again

another idea......would the tlt axles hold up to huge tires? I was just toying around in the garage and noticed that I still have my old nylint crawlers hanging around. Maybe build a huge crawler? Nothing serious, just to make something different out of spare parts since I have them......just a thought.Still leaning toward rock racer.

I have some tlt's and I think I would stay between 4 1/2 to 5 inch maybe 5 1/2 inch tires like moabs or even Rovers,,etc..The axles will take the bigger tires but youll be replacing parts a lot sooner...I ran 2.2 Moabs on mine on Axial wheels with my own front and rear trusses and chassis,,,metal yokes at the axles and Axial shafts and yokes at the tranny with a 55t and a Rooster Crawler,,it would bind up the axles and I never broke any internals but make sure you use Thread lock on your internal diff screws.

Nylint tires are huge, 7" tall, but don't really have any traction. Funny you should mention it, my first TLT was used from a member here and came with some nylint tires modded to fit. Never broke anything, but I didn't run it long with those tires either.

Meh, I wasn't thinking about a serious crawler. Just something to play around with that would be ungodly large and ridiculous. I have spare parts, might as well use them.
