Default No more Mongo....

I can't leave well enough alone. After building my scaler (Mongo) and running him a few times, I really liked it but could not keep up with my buddy's tuber. Since I pretty much strictly rock crawl and not much trail rides, I had a K-5 body sitting around from another build I never finished, I threw it on the chassis to see how it looked. I know I probably won't be able to totally keep up with a tuber, but it will do a lot better without the huge bumpers and a lot less top-heavy. I guess I just need to get a comp chassis but this is gonna have to work for now. We'll see how it works on the rocks. Let me know what you think.

A K2-3L will keep up with a comp rig if you do all the comp setup steps like weighting the wheels and mounting the battery low, etc.
You could do a front axle stretch to help with approach angle. Just do some longer links and move the shocks. But with the 2.2 tires you might be ok just by going to a smaller bumper.

Glad to see the K5 body make a comeback.

Also, you should do a simple rollbar hoop or that body won't last long.

I made one for the old SuperDuke out of a piece of 1/4" aluminum tube and bolted it to the chassis. Just something to support the weight in a rollover.

I do have weight in the wheels, the battery is just mounted above the front axle on the chassis, I don't like the looks of batteries mounted on the axles. (I still want to keep it someone scale). I'm gonna try it and see how I like it. I was thinking of adding high clearance links and maybe 4WS later. I don't plan on running any comps with it, it's just a basher.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I'll see what I can come up with.

Well that is too bad that you took your bronco apart. But I know what you mean, I need to get axles back on my SW3, comp chassis handle the rocks lots better

Know you from N4W, had me worried a bit there.

That body looks great! honestly the first dovetailed creation I've liked.

It was a hard decision, but in the end I just want to be able to go out and crawl! I still have all the parts to re-assemble Mongo someday, maybe when I get another set of axles and a tranny.

Thanks. The body work probably isn't the cleanest but I'm happy how it turned out.
