| Removable mechanical lockout for TLT axle with rear steer
I've had some questions about this so I decided to just make a seperate thread about it. For my lastest TLT project I wanted 4WS, but for the 2.2 class in ORCRC, the rear axle steering must be mechanically locked out. So to overcome this, I came up with this removable lockout link for the rear axle using some extra TLT parts so I could still compete with it if I wanted to. Making a quick change mechanical lockout for the Rear Servo / Steering for a TLT axles is really simple to do using stock tlt-1 parts. Just make a short link out of a long 3mm screw with the head cut off and two long snap on rod ends from the V-Parts bag 53369. Then use a threaded brass ball connector (Screw Bag F 47201) on the steering knuckle / upright and replace one of the 3mm nuts (top screw on long side of diff) that hold the axle together with this ball connector. Then adjust it to fit so your not stressing the servo when its centered. Now for bashing around - you can remove this link and have 4ws. For comps - you can snap the link inte place and be legal since the rear steer is mechanically locked out. and better yet is your doing this with left over stock TLT parts. I totally missed that in your other post. Now I see it! D'oh! Great truck Rick, good to see you're still into it. Hope that root canal goes well, they are pretty brutal. |
