Hi folks, I recently built up a TLT for a friend, and took some pictures along the way. I hope some of the information proves useful! http://www.orcrc.com/tltbuildup.htm Enjoy! Ryan Last edited by kevinlongisland; 12-23-2005 at 10:28 AM. |

Nice article! I am curious about the rubber rear fenders. When the rear tire rubs it (assuming it has enough flex) does the rubber on rubber just pull the fenders away or does the hot glue hold them in place? |

Thanks yall! The fenders hold up fine to tire rubbing. They only seem to come off after serious crawling abuse, but then you just hot glue them back on! Ryan |

| best scale builder
I was going to do a write up on this build, but I wanted to wait and see if Ryan would post first. I am all about giving credit where credit is due, in this case, it is all Ryan's. This idea was hatched mid summer, but did not come to froition until now. I wanted to build the ultimate scale Landcruiser, so who did I go to? The best ofcourse, Ryan Gerrish. I bought all the parts I could find and shipped them in a " Gift Box " to Ryan. He was excited when he got it all, he said it is just like x-mas when he gets mail like that. He got the remaining parts for me at his LHS and scored me a NIB LC body, one of the last ones in his area. I was so pleased with the way this truck came out, it was two guys bouncing ideas off of eachother and one builder who uses his artistic talents to craft some of the best trucks I have ever seen. I have only changed a few things and yes Ryan and I talked about them. I put a hitec hs 645mg BB servo in, narrowed both sides of the rims and added rckjeep rings, switched the front and rear springs and pre-loaded the front with spaces, put 4 oz of wheel weights in each front tire, top coated the underside of the body to prevent paint flake. Specs are: 12.5" WB 3" COG S. chicken 55T lathe 12T pin 84T spur New metal geared and BB locked pede trans Jato / Pede driveshafts Locked BB'd TLT axles HPI black chrome spike 2.2 wheels Masher 2K's Rckjeep rings LC body " disco'd " rockcrawler style rear fenders scale jerry can 60/40 Bulu 2 Custom chassis by Ryan Custom swivel battery tray by Ryan All in All, Ryan is amazing and I am so lucky to have him build me a truck and to have him as a friend, he is a great guy and one hellova builder. I will always have this truck. on to the new pics. Last edited by Unimoger; 12-21-2005 at 11:48 AM. |

Thanks Ben! It was fun to build. There are builders that spend many weeks on a project and can make it look like they have factory machined parts with simple hand tools, and there are builders that booty-fab stuff together in just a few minutes! (Not that that's bad) I think I fall somewhere in the middle. I love to build, but I love to play with it even more, so I tend to only spend a few days on a whole project so I can drive it! Remember that there is no 'right' way to build a truck! Recognition should also go to the Norcal RCRC Memeber who inspired the theme of this FJ! (Who's was it?) Thanks, ryAN |

Just got the new servo all dialed in and the springs set , it runs sooooooooo nice, feels like it will crawl over damn near anything. We'll see, it is off to Colorado with me for x-mas. |
