Default Made some progress on the Tuber!

I tried to update my first post the the Title wouldn't change for some reason, so I made a new post, lol...

Got to work on it some more, but I ran out of Gas agian! I gotta go buy a smaller torch tip the #2 I got is burning Acetylene like theres no tomm. plus the coolest I can get the flame is still a bit on the hot side, lol, it heats the joint red hot in about 3-5 seconds, lol.

Anyway, heres what I got done... the Lower 4-links are gonna be Revo steel pushrods, and the uppers Im gonna sleeve some 6-32 rod with carbon tube, cause there not getting eatin buy the rocks, lol. The servo mount is made a 3/32" thick Lexan and has an aluminum brace a the back to keep it from cracking when I tighten down the links. Its the same design as the stocker but its 1/2" longer in the back so I can mount my links.

Im still not 100% sure how to attach the links to the chassis, I though about brazing 4-40 nuts to it, but that seems kinda fragile... what are yall doing to mount them to the tube?

Let me know what yall think!

Jake

A lot of people make little tabs to mount links and shocks. Looks good. Pretty clean build.

The reason you couldn't change the name is you can't. Once you choose a name for a thread you can't change it. Unless a mod was to do it.

Looks good. One suggestion on the axle... Mount the steering link on top of the knuckle for more clearance, the way its setting now will get hung up on the rocks easily.

Thanks guys, yea Im gonna flip the steering link to the top soon, just dont see were that how make that big of a difference, but every little bit helps...

Rocpede: thanks for the idea about using the stock TLT mounts, I think that what Im gonna do! and the only reason I have the links mounted in the reverse of yours is so I can get them Parallel with each other... but thanks for the tip,

I should have some more pics tomm, gonna go get my gas filled in the morning!

Default Small Update:

Well the welding shop was closed for New Years today So I worked on some stuff that didn't require any brazing or a torch, lol

Heres what I got done:

Servo Mounts, I put the final touchs on my servo mounts...

And with a servo...

Tire and Wheels mounted, wheels drilled, and tire foams cut...

I was able to piece together a pede tranny from spare parts! used an AE 87tooth spur gear and a 4-tec gear adapter to eliminate the slipper...

Got the tranny mount cut and drilled and test fitted it...

Default Another Update:

Rocpede: I went ahead and flipped my lower link mounts and brazed the upper mounts a bit higher than I was planning on before, thanks for the tip!

Anyway I got the tranny mount and front link mounts done, I have to order some more traxxas turnbuckles for the rear upper links but the mounts are done also.

side view, its gonna have a good bit a ground clearance, lol...

Close up...

front view, its not perfecty square but I couldn't find a decent way of holding everything, lol, so I just adjusted the turnbuckles to center then axle...

top view...

tranny mount...

I think Im gonna mount the shocks on the bottom links at the very end, right before the ball link... I also have to put some spacers between the tranny and chassis cause my driveshaft is too close to my link mount, lol

Let me know what yall think...

Jake

Yea Im gonna add some more, but the stuff is solid 3/16 and 5/32 carbon steel rod, so I wanna keep the truck under 20lbs, lol
