Default Uncle Fred's TLT axle shop truck, update 04/19

Hi, I've been working on this build for a while, it's on another RC forum and some have already seen it, but I thought I'd share it with those who have not. I like to have a little fun with some of my builds and also make them more entertaining.
Here are two of my previous efforts.
Uncle Fred's WK tuber
VMG based Bronco Concept.

Anyway, Fred needs a truck for the shop.
"Hi Fred, so this is the frame, you built"
" Yup! Vinny, used some 1/2inch sq. tube, bent, split and so on."

"Hey this WK tranny fits just right on the plate you made."
"Yes, Vinny, I used a thing called a tape measure, to make it."

"Gee! no need to be snippy, what's the matter, you got another hangover heh?"
"Yea, cheap booze sucks, now shut up and help me get this lined up square, will ya".

"Howdy, guys, what's cooking?"
"Hi, Charlie, be carefull, your uncle Fred's not feeling too well".
" What's wrong Uncle, you sick?".
"Yea! Chuckie, I got the brown bottle flu".

I have to leave it there for now, Vinny has gone to get some more parts, Fred needs to lay down for a while, and charlie went to the boxing gym for his workout. More to come real soon.

Sorry for the delay, Vinny is still out looking for parts.

"Never forget what I told you, the bigger the problem the bigger the hammer."
" Your'e right, Uncle Fred, that was fun, and the bracket looks much better."
"Yea, you do enjoy this don't you? give that one on the bottom a little more adjustment."

" Man! I think this thing is going to work like a charm, lots of torque."

"What can it say Fred, how will it talk?"
"Geez! you dimbulb Charlie, it's torque not t, a, l, k, what's a matta wit you."
"Oh!.... you mean like power kind of torque, OK I got it."
" Yes, now let's get this sucker ready for primer."

"Wow, Chuckie, you did a slap-up job, looks great."
" Thanks Uncle Fred, but ... don't call me that, my name's Charlie."
"OK whatever, just shoot her with a coat of black, will ya."

"Are you sure you measured this last one properly, Fred."
"Yes, yes..just cut the f*%#@ thing, and go prep and paint em, I need to go take a leak bad..."

"Sorry , Charlie, I had to run, it was an emergency."
"Everything come out allright Fred, ha! ha! hee he?"
"Aww! Shuddup, and cut the damn thing."

"Just a couple more turns... and we got it."

"Now, what the hell is that Vinny?"
"Leaf spring material, I got a real good deal on it."
"But.. I thought we decided to go with links.."
"Nawwh! cumon! you said you like leafs... Fred."
"Oh! sh1t Vin, you gonna make me..."

"I hate makin these stupid........"

"Hi Fred."
"Hi Vin, Hi Charlie."
"Fred you drinking again?"
"Yea! so what, I need some, to get me 'Inspiration'."
"Charlie you better stay with him, make sure he does'nt over do it."
"Hey! punk, I don't need no baby-sitter."
"Ok Fred! calm down, I meant he has to make sure you make only four leaf springs."
"Get the hell out! You mutha *^%$#, and take Chucklehead with ya!"

Looks like it's time to leave Fred alone for a while. I'll be back with more shortly.
Thanks for taking a look.

Well, luckily Fred calmed down and didn't have too much booze.

"So there's your leaf springs Vinny, me and monkey boy..Oh! sorry.. Charlie got them installed."
"Gee, you know Fred, now that I see em on here I'm thinking maybe you were right about a link system."

"WHAT! you son of a ...B#$ch.. I went to all this trouble, and you.... you ba&%ard."
"It's Ok uncle Fred, watch your blood pressure, we already got the links made up, don't worry..."

"You feeling better now, Fred."
"yea I guess, now that we got rid of ol' numbnuts, I feel great, are those the upper link mounts?"

"Yes, I took the templates you made and cut these out and brazed them, you likey?"
"Hey! Charlie, looks like these will work just fine, you know, you might not be the sharpest knife in the draw, but your'e ok in my book, and yes me likey."

"Didn't take us long and we got the first axle in."
" Thanks for the help Charlie, lemme' call knucklehead and tell him we got it going on, rub it in a bit, huh!"

"Here it's on speakerphone, Charlie... tell Vinny how nice it came together."
" Vinny... yea it's Charlie.. we got the axle in and all bolted down....yea, we even got the shocks mounted...see ya later."

"You Ok Fred?"
" I think so, but everything looks kinda blurry, must be that Burrito I had for lunch, while you clean up, I'm gonna lay down for a bit."
"Sure thing, oke doke."

Let's hope he's still in a good mood when he wakes up from his nap, you never can tell with that old fart.
Will be back soon, I promise.
Thanks for taking a look, again.

Back again.

" Wow! I see you guys have been busy."
"Yup!... hey Charlie, where's that big a$$ hex wrench?"
"Got it right here Fred."

"Ok, are you done with this steering bracket, servo and the mock up motor? "
"Yea, I've got the last screw tightened up good, check it out vinny, we got ourselves a roller."
"I am amazed at you two..... Fred, Charlie, I'm sorry for the hassle and stuff yesterday."

"Hey Vinny you like my little RC truck?"
"Yea, it's pretty cool, I wanna ride it up the ramp into the tool box."
"Geez! both of you are like little kids, with that thing."

"Give it some more gas Vinny!"

"Yipee! got it right in the box."
"But you busted the ramp Vinny, one day I'll teach you guys how to drive, ha! ha, ha."
" Come on 'Kids', playtime is over let's get back to work on this thing."
"Aww, Fred, were just having a little fun."
" Fun, shmun, whatever."

"So! while you guys were screwing around, I got the Fireball 50 installed, checked all the drive shafts, waddaya think?"
"looks real purdy, Fred."

"Listen Charlie, Vinny's gone to get some material for us to build a bed for this rig, you ready for some fab work?"
"Oh! boy, do I get to do some more cutting, brazing, grinding and stuff."
"Yes, but you gotta promise me, no more fooling around like last time, you almost started a fire."
"I promise, lucky you know how to use a fire extinguisher, Uncle Fred."

I can't wait to see what they get up to next time. We will be back soon.
Thanks for taking a look.

This is good so far, beats the hell out of Orange County Choppers. I love the little RC truck.

Tell uncle Fred that I hope those tires and wheels are just for mockup because they are gay.

Yea! right on, I guess it also beats looking at some of the amazing builds, that guys/gals put so much time and effort into, sitting on top on a damn laundry machine. LOL! Oh yes, about the wheels/tires, Vinny found those in a parts yard, (he's a wanna-be 'wise guy', calls himself Vinny, but his name is Marvin), they are just for mock up, looking for something better. Thanks for the neat comments, much appreciated.

Let's see what the boys are up to now.

"Hey Fred, looks pretty square from this side."
"Good Charlie, let me drill this hole and we can mark for the next couple brackets."
"You guys, I think I found us the perfect cab.....Sorry what's that....yes....ok, I'll be over there later on today to take a look at it.... thanks pal."

"Vinny, ask him about the lumber for the bed.... yea, nice thick planks."
"Ok! Charlie, let's go get those rock sliders you made and see if they fit good."

"Damn, these are sturdy, good job Charlie."
"Thanks Uncle Fred, you may be old, but your'e still a good teacher."
"What you mean 'old' you little sh^t, I'll show you old can still kick your a$$."
"Hey cum'on Fred, Charlie's trying to pay you a compliment."
" Yea Uncle, Honest, don't get mad, I only meant.."
"Nevermind...kid, I just got a bad headache from all the grinding."

"Ok you guys, I'm outta here, gotta round up some more parts."
"While your'e out, pick me up a six pack and some asprin will ya?"
"Can you bring me some more soda, Vin, please!"
"Sure thing, see Fred the kids got's manners, he say's please."
"Ahh!... get lost you knuckle-head, and hurry back with my beer, before I kick your a$$ as well, Ha!,ha,ha,ha."

As soon as he gets back with the wood and stuff we will continue.
I will have more in the morning.
Thanks for taking a look, all comments are welcome, good and not so good.
I hope you are all enjoying this as much as I am!

Thank you, much appreciated!

Hope the guys are getting along in the shop today.

"You're a man of many talents, Fred, the bed looks great, but that's an ugly a$$ toolbox."
"Glad you like it Vinny, Charlie made the box for a mock up, it's not done yet, Mr jerk."
"Cum'on guys, we still got a long way to go before it's done."

" Yea! Chuckles, with the truck cab Vinny got us, we do have a lot of work, no grille, no interior, just an empty shell."
"Uncle Fred.... we got a grill, it's outside, we used it just the other night."
"Not that grill, you moron.... oh! never mind, just help me get some material so we can get started on some fabrication."

"Vinny showed me the body, like you said it's empty, do we have to fab everything?"
"yea, just about, get busy sweeping and shut your cakehole, I need to concerntrate here."

"Close enough, looks like the '84 model....."
"What you say, Fred."
"Oh nothing, just thinking out loud, shut up and sweep."

"Why do you have to say mean stuff to me, Fred?"
"Cause it builds character,.... stupid.... I dunno, sorry,... are you done cleaning yet!?"

"Come here, what do ya think of it so far ?"
"Uuuh! I guess it looks ok, but looks kinda solid, I think it needs some space... like holes for the lights and stuff ?"
"Oh! what a genius you are Charlie, how about I use your thick skull to break open some holes huh!, go sweep knucklehead."

"If I measured right this sucker should fit Just right."
"What ?"
"Shuddup!... sweep, monkey boy, I'm thinkin."

"Hey boys, what's up"
"Hi, Vinny!....Uncle Fred's being mean and calling me names, and cussing at me."
"Why?...Fred we talked about this.... you gotta knock it off..OK."
" Yea! I guess I,ve been grouchy,... sorry Charlie you... just gotta be quiet when I'm workin, stop yakking all the time, you drive me to drink."
" Geez! I can't leave you guys alone.....anyway that looks pretty good, I'm gonna go pinch a loaf."

"Wow! Fred I see you got it all together, finished ?"
"It came out better than I'd hoped, just need to see that it fits first, then Charlie can shoot some primer and paint and it'll be done."
"Hey! don't sulk charlie, I got you some soda in the fridge for ya."
"Thanks Vinny."

"You are all smiles now, charlie?"
"Yea, now that I seen it with the body on, it looks.... more like a truck."

"Fred that grille you made fits perfect."
"Yes, kinda surprised myself, just have to get rid of the letters on the hood, the 84' did'nt have them."

That's all for now folks!
More updates real soon.

Well, it's saturday morning, let's take a peek in the shop.
Fred was left alone last night and this morning, so he decided to build a better tool box for the bed.

Got it covered w/treadplate

Need a way to lock it up

And a quick coat of primer

The cab also needs a coat of primer

Looks much better now

That's it for now, more to come soon.
Feel free to leave a comment, good or bad, if not, no problem.
Thanks for taking the time to have a look.

Thanks, I've been meaning to add some more stuff to the shop, but never seem to find the time, oh well! maybe when this build is done.

I think the guys have an update for us.

"So, which one you gonna use?"
"The one on the chair looks like sh1t, don't it?"
"Yea! that's the one Vinny found, Fred."

" I can work with this one, Charlie, are there any other parts that came with it?"
"Maybe, let me go look in back at the pile of parts Vinny brought from the junk yard."

"Is that all?"
"Naa there's a bunch, but I dunno which dash they belong to."
"OK, dumba$$ I'll go look."

"I found some stuff that'll fit, but no steering wheel."
"I found a couple parts we could use Fred, check it out."

"Cum'on Chuckie, are you serious?"
"Yea, cut the center out, like this.... fit the thingy in the middle.... weld it in place like so....."

"What the heck, one day you're as dumb as a bucket of hammers, and the next you're like a genius."
"Did i do good Uncle fred?, see, it's even got a nice rubber cover on it."
"You sure did, you deserve a case of soda pop for this one Charlie."

"Let's try it on the dash, I got a few more parts installed."
"Wow! Charlie, it fits real good, don't look too bad either."

"Charlie this is great, got most of the parts installed, now we can strip it for paint."
"You got it Fred. let's get this sucker ready."

"Wait, let's see it with the steering wheel."
"OK."

That's all for now, we will be back again. Thanks for taking a look.

Yes, he thinks who he is, don't he? LOL.
Thanks for your kind words.

Sorry for the delay, got a little busy with stuff.

Looks like things have been moving along in the shop.

"What the heck!.. where did you find this piece of sh1t Charlie?"
"Vinny dropped it off, I fixed some springs that were loose and now I,m brushing off the dust."

"AAHchooo!.... damn that's a dusty old thing."
"Yea, you shoulda seen it earlier, Fred, it had spider nest thingy's, and all kinda stuff on it."

"So, your'e using that nasty broom that you sweep the shop with, to clean the seat.... brilliant?"
"Naah! Fred, I washed it good, honest, I wouldn't want you to get a dirty a$$, now would I, HA! haHa!....?"
"Yea! and I thought you were a moron Chuckie...Ha ha ha."

"Hey! Charlie, the seat fits pretty good.... you gonna give this cab floor some paint soon?"
(Muffled reply) "I put it in there.... just to see how it looked.....I'll get to the painting...... as soon as I'm done in the..... going poop."
"Geez!....TMI buddy, take your time.... you don't wanna strain yourself there sonny."

*Fred's thinking to himself* "Now that those two buggers are out of my hair for a while, time to get these inner door panels done."

"Finally, done, now for some paint work."

"Well, thats got the ol' dash done.... let's see ..... yup, I'll just let her sit there while the paint sets."

Well, here we go.

Fred's alone in the shop again, getting stuff done.

"Got most of the interior stuff painted and assembled."

"Time to see how it looks all put together."

'Now let's see what it looks like fitted inside the cab."

"Ahh! I love it when it all comes together, starting to look like something now."

That's all for now, the other two maniacs should be back in time for the next update.
Thanks for watching.

"We got the rear bumper made, and it's got a step, see Vinny."
" Cool Charlie good job....but Fred... where's the tow hitch and the tail lights?"

"Cum'on Vinny... it's just a mock-up you knuckle head."
"Yea, we just wanna see how it fits, were gonna add those later."

'Oh! I see."

"And here is the front we've been working on."
"Do you like my brazing.. Vinny... Fred's a good teacher, he showed me lots'a tricks."

"Yea he's full of tricks, pretty good for an old f*%k like him."
"What! you want a knuckle sandwich.. what do you mean old?"
"Hey! I'm just joking Fred, No need to get upset."
"I swear Vinny... one of these days I'll squeeze your skinny little neck..."

"Oh'o I better put my helmet on, things are getting nasty."
"Don't worry, Charlie, I was just kidding.... sorry Fred."

"OK! enough BS, let's get this thing on and see how it looks."
"I'll give you a hand Fred."

"Fits pretty good Charlie, nice work you guys."
"Thanks Vinny."

"OK Charlie, lets get this stuff to the paint shop, Vinny got the paint for us."
"Yea! then we can start assembling it, cool."

"OK got the second mirror on."

"Waddya think Vinny?"
"Oh! I like it, nice two tone fellas."

'The other hood was too buckled to use, so we decided to leave this one flat black."

"Let's see what it looks like with some other wheels and tires."
"Before."

"After."
"OH! no, I don't like it."
"Yea, I think we got used to looking at the other ones."
"Looks wierd."

'We're gonna have to get some taller tires I guess."
"Yea."
"Just don't look right, to me."

That's all for now, still lots of work to be done and some parts to get.
More updates when possible.
Thanks for looking.
