Why so much link separation in the rear? I've always set up my upper links so that at ride hight they are level to the ground. Never had torque twist problems at all.

All the drilling is by hand and I have a scroll saw and a verticle band saw.

I don't have any more than I had before. Its an illusion from the housing being rotated more (pinion up). So I might have to knock a tad off the uppers...

So I finally got another batch of parts. At the last comp I heard a funny rachet noise. And then while testing--the rear end gave up.. So I ripped the rear end apart and found the side gears a lil messed up along with--all the epoxy turned to a greasy substance...

So I just cleaned the mess for now and re-epoxied it..
But I was expecting to find teeth missing off the ring gear. But rather I just found them folded over---pot metal,lol...

So this time I shimmed the pinion gear so it should last longer than a year--if not then its time for hardoned gears..
I also went and upgraded the rear shafts to these...

I am waiting for my rear lockouts so once I get those I will toss the wear knuckles/ears...

Since I ran the rear diff farther back than the front--the rear driveshaft had to be extended. Pretty easy really. Just used a portion of female shaft to mate the male portions.

I also finally tossed the stock tlt body mounts and went with some HPI side mounts. MUCH better

And here is how it sits. I ran out on my lil test pile of rocks and the thing is yet again better...

So I am waiting for a couple more parts and then its ready for the comp....

I decided to go ahead and re-configure the battery packs on more time--ended up moving the 2 cells that were on the servo to the sides--triangle shape.... I also went and swapped everything over to deans plugs. Not 100% sure how the velcro will work out but I will run it and see what hapens...

And of course--- With a new rig I needed a new body----ok I just stripped my old body(which I like) and repainted it with the same colors as my bronco body was--I like it MUCH better than the blue....

Get this

Brake fluid

Just rub it on and let it set. It will either get soft or come off--and all I use is a wadded up ball of brake fluid soaked TP and rub on the paint--works like a champ..

And the wife wasn't even mad at me doing it in the kitchen sink

sounds good! i tried oven cleaner and it sucksssss. It didn't even get the paint off at all but instead it ate at the lexan putting thousands of cracks all over it and making it brittle :( it ruined a $25 hood for my tlt tuber

Well I had planned on this upgrade but the timing was perfect as my ESC dropped dead..

But its the novak goat brushless setup--this should hopefully do the trick

Well I decided to rip the front apart. I had found the 3 bolts that hold the diff cover on had started to come out and all of the epoxy had finally turned to mush. So I went and redid it all and shimmed the pinion. Well within 1/2 hour the front went pop. I went and ripped a couple teeth off the pinion.

Well these lil jewels finally showed up.

So I shopped around and just could not beat the price on the RCP ring/pinion combo--so I ordered up a set for the front/rear..

I tried to shim the pinion and not an option. I even tried to shim the carrier but thats a no go either--so I jjust installed them

And now the rear is about as strong as it can be...

Soo--just a lil update..

I have been to 3 comps now and just love it and getting the hang of it..

Along the way I have upgraded a few things.

Went to a 7 cell 2/3a packs---man these things fit nicely on the front diff..

I also upgraded the fronts finally to CVD's and running a good steering servo (hobico cs170)

Along the way I ripped the splines out of my front RCp locker and fried my damn goat

But since I have been really beating on this thing--this thing was just done.

So it was time for a new body--the first time I saw it I just had to have it
