latest tlt pics. I just removed the rear servo to go to 2ws and 3 linked it. Sometimes 4ws hurts rather than helps. Now my rear axle has a bit more side to side play in it. Is that normal? Does everyone elses rigs have that? How much juice does a HT servo use. Thought I'd get a bit more runtime with one. I still plan on getting a pede tranny, early bronco or FJ body, axle wideners, better shocks, servo mounts and batteries from Brando, custom chassis and a few other things. Also trimmed lugs on fronts. Still need to sleeve the links and move the lower ones up. Comments welcome. Thanks guys. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0353.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0356.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0357.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/04749c31.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0363.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0364.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0370.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...7/IMG_0372.jpg |
1 Attachment(s) Triangulate your upper and lower links, that's why you're getting side to side movement in the axles. Like so.... |
|
You can't have a 3-link suspension without a trac bar, or panhard bar, whatever you want to call it. This bar would run on top of the housing, from left to right (or R to L). Not worth doing, just stick with a 4-link, better control of the axle, maybe slightly less flex, but you can still get LOADS of flex out of a 4-link. And also, the links need to be triangulated as stated above, nothing is keeping the axle from floating side to side otherwise. If you run a 3-link, they would not be triangulated, but with the panhard/trac bar, that eliminates side-to-side movement. |
Hows that a 3 link? I see 4 links there. Like badger said, you need triangulation. |
Yeah like BENDER said, triangulate your 4 link you have.. move the top links out towards the chassis, then move your bottom links in some. the 2 side braces, switch those, put the top one on the bottom and the bottom on top. That would give you a dual triangulated setup ;-) |

4 it is. Going to change it now. Thanks for the comments. |
Ya have to bring your truck down one of these days. There is a bunch of little things we could do to make it better. I have a box of goodies you can pick through. Need to see if there is a way to get the battery mounted lower. I was impressed with it at the Bullhole. That little bugger did alright on the rocks. With a little work I think it could be better than the bigger trucks. Brian and I will be here on Saturday working on his truck. Your always welcome. |
